Sure, both series are great in their own ways and it's all a matter of perspective... but honestly, in my opinion this time TC did not deserve the award. With a nice season behind them, the episodes were still a bit all over the place in both quality of production and skiing. Still supreme compared to many other series, but hey, it's the big leagues, and TC is mostly fisheye follow cams in random park environments due to some limitations.

Nipwitz on the other hand supplied an overhaul of their image after joining up with Flatlight Films and really bringing out the importance of cinematography and production values, fleshing out narratives in Serbia and rural Russia as well as the icy reigns of Lapland. Each episode had a different feel, a different theme and a consitency on bringing out the best parts of the places they were visiting.

I don't know how else I could spin it and I hate saying "ooooh, this and that shoulda won over those and them", but in this case and this season, I feel Nipwitz should have gotten the award for Best Webisode, hands down.

 
Like I've said before, I hope we could just exchange you with your brother and the skiing world could possibly become a better place.

Come on, give me something at least, besides the grueling sarcasm slobbering from the side of your mouth, what exactly felt wrong or misconceived in my argument for this particular award?

And Eheath, OMGLULZ le monkey face on your crotch, when's the last time that you actually had a relevant opinion on this site beside snide remarks on pre-teens' posts on this site? We all know and remember what a bitch you were back in the day, don't forget about that.
 
Just saying who cares? They dont win money, they really arent even that relevant vs say the powder awards. Just get over it.
 
As if you don't know about the relevance of attention in this niche industry! Ha! Any award means exposure, face time and more possibilites with sponsors and people willing to take you one step further.

It doesn't matter if it's a single ski with an embedded text on it, it's the event, the prize and the ability to become more known.

I just can't understand why you're focusing on the aspect of "who cares" as a filmmaker yourself.
 
If3 awards are not very popular, they get more hype from uploading their videos to NS.
 
Honestly I'd still rather watch TC over Nipwitz 70% o the time. As dope as Nipwitz is and I just like TC's vibe and the people.
 
Like, what, are downplaying this because you didn't have a chance at winning or what?

I'm still to hear any sound argument for TC over Nipwitz this last season.
 
TC routinely gets more views and higher ratings than Nipwitz. You might enjoy Nipwitz more but not everyone does...

I happen to agree with the OP, I love both TC and Nipwitz, I'm always so stoked to watch both when they drop. I would have given nipwitz the award this year though, everything they put out was beautiful.

Honourable mention to Real Skifi by the way, who didn't even make the top three but destroyed it all year.

Yes, I have a massive fucking boner for Nipwitz, but it isn't any less massive than the one I have reserved for TC. Both are excellent series, but this time I really feel that when it was between Nipwitz, Bon Appetit and TC, the award didn't go to the right webisode. I also think you often come off as a pretentions know-it-all on this site, but of course there's the difference of you being at least some kind of representative of the sport due to sponsors and flow deals and me being just a regular dilly-dally skier who has lost some of the enjoyment in the act of sliding down snow for some reason in the past few years - I don't know if this makes me a viable critic anymore, but I sure as hell am not going to stop voicing my opinions on these matters.

Well, there's always if3 Europe, we'll see how they fare over there.

on topic...TC will always be my favorite so I am stoked for the guy's. I'd rather be entertained with their aspect they put on the series with humor, odd as fuck skiing styles, etc... over others; although as stated, to each their own.
 
I couldn't disagree more. Nipwitz is rather cliche and boring as balls, and TC is always bringing funky fresh skiing and a truly unique vibe. Mike0, opinions are opinions, but damn bro you're really making yourself out to be quite a douche bag on this one.
 
And while we're on the subject, explain your views about Nipz being cliche and boring as balls?

I find myself yawning at most TC episodes from the last two seasons, so maybe we have some interesting subtext and conversation possibilities here instead of just calling people douchebags for offering their opinions.

But I'm a fan of nipwitz on facebook, havn't seen them post anything in years. I don't even know when their last edit came out because they and their sponsors don't promote themselves very well in north america.

I also enjoy TC more than nipwitz anyways. Nipwitz do some cool stuff, but TC has everything.
 
Not when retard 1 (mike-O) keeps pushing his opinion like its fact, denouncing everyone who likes TC and think he know everything. The proper way for him to discuss would be to present his opinions, accept others opinions and discuss. Telling people he thinks one thing sucks and another is the best and everyone is wrong =/= discussing.

AND they were winning a cash prize towards the winning crew, at if3 all they get is an award with a little sentimental value.

but yea, nipwitz definitely had the better season and probably should have won. entertaining in a whole different way than TC though. It's hard to even compare them. The only thing that's really in common is the super creative skiing. Which Nipwitz did much better this season.
 
Yeah, I thought about that when posting this, but we are talking about an established series competing on stage with renowned film companies and a live audience seeing who gets to accept what ward here and there, with industry people around and live reporting going on every second with modern Twittery moments. Do you know that a lot of people used a large sum of their money just to fly over the Atlantic and be a aprt of this event as qualifiers for a major prize, which is the award for Best Whatever? Sure, no win is for granted or simply obvious, but I still don't understand YOUR hateful words me and my opinion, it's just "boohoo this and that" instead of some kind of honest review or perspective on the issue. That's why I say fuck you all the time.

As for the NSTV Producer deal, 1800 dollars per season is still chump change if you ask me, when considering the price of tickets, skis, boots, travel, camera equipment, editing & other tools, I don't think there's any damn arguments about these facts. It helps, but it doesn't damn THC or Totally Trevor and shut them down completely because they missed this opportunity.

nipwitz put out some amazing work last year, i guess TC took the win because they're more popular among the general freeski public and every one of their episodes has this super chill and funky side to it that just belongs to TC ....

 
I don't really have one, or not enough of one to be invested. I like both series a lot and they're very different. I'll say that I don't agree with your characterization that amounted to NW being measurably or objectively better. I also thought your analysis of TC, and its strengths/appeal was off base. I also think it's pretty clear that you have a personal bias towards NW, how conscious you are of that bias I don't know.

I don't really believe that NW not winning in someway hurts their prestige or the likelihood that they'll continue to excel, so like others have pointed out, to me this is just another "My opinion is more right on this totally subjective matter" IF3 winner/loser thread.

Trailing circus is awesome but Nipwitz is much much more creative and original in locations , the way they hit urban and their style. Eheath go have sex with a fat chick an then thank her for giving you some action cause that's the only pussy your ever gonna get with out paying for it ..

Praising two different series and critizing the winning one over the losing one, setting up a table for discussion. Instead, all I got at first was "HAHAHA", "another bitching thread about if3" and snarky remarks from some pro-flow skier who has nowhere near the skill or attention of either the main TC crew or Nipwitz. Sorry Jeff, bad callout, but life is life.

I wanted discussion and that's what I'm trying to spark here over petty bragging or delusions. Accepting other opinions =/= agreeing with everyone.
 
More production also doesn't mean its better episodes. I would have said that Real Ski should have picked it up over anyone but way she goes. I think Nipwitz wins at IF3 Europe every year or is it just one award for all of them? I really dont know.

Cant we all just be friends?
