Travel the world

I was going to put this in media and arts but it wouldn't get as much exposure, therefore, here it is. This video really inspires me. One, because I really want to travel Chile.. Two because it captures the magic of travelling quite brilliantly. I hope you enjoy, but I know you will.

Get out there, see the world for what it is: Simple, stunning, beauty.

Save money and do it man. You will never, ever, ever regret it. I've been away for 5 months now and it's absolutely been the best five months of my life. However, it's highly addictive so don't plan on going to school for a while after haha!

Where are you living and what are you doing to entertain yourself? Also how much did u save up? I would love to just leave everything behinde and travel around and meet all the people the world has to offer and see what is out ther im just scared of where i would live...it seems like it would be hella costly.

Everywhere, anywhere. Hostels, locals, guest houses, cheap hotels. Everything and anything. Climbing volcanoes, trekking to waterfalls, cliff jumping, clubbing, new years eve full moon party in Koh Phangan, riding motorcycles, meeting people, just swam with whale sharks two days ago, now I'm headed to Malapascua Island to complete my PADI divemaster all the while swimming with some of the rarest sharks on the planet nearly every day. Malapascua is actually the only place on earth where you can find thresher sharks every day. Just left Donsol yesterday where I was living with a local Philippino family for a week. Eating with them, speaking with them as much as possible, hanging out with their baby, and drinking with the son of course. In Donsol you could walk out into the street and get pulled into sitting down with a group of 10 local guys just passing around a shot glass and chatting or gambling for hours. The Philippines is great like that, people are SO friendly. Tomorrow I'm going to stay with a professional poker player from Belgium that I found on couchsurfing.com. You get the point.

The possibilities are endless, and I don't mean to gloat; but that's my life at the moment and I'm telling it like it is.

On another note, my biggest worry down here is that I'll get in an accident on a bus. Other than that there really isn't anything to worry if you just use your common sense. A week ago in Cambodia I walked through a group of 8 men in a dark street alone (stoned and paranoid) and just kept to myself, nothing happened. They looked at me odd, but I guarantee a few groups of guys in North America would try to start shit in the same situation "wtf are you doing here" etc.. I'd even venture to say it's more safe than North America if you do so. Everything in our media is so played up it's ridiculous. There are more kidnappings in New York state annually then there are in all of the Philippines annually.. where should we really be afraid of.

I saved up roughly 8000 dollars over a period of probably six years when I was younger. I'm 18 now. My one way ticket here was my grad present however, so that saved me 600. I'm going to be in a bit of debt when I get home but fuck it I'm working asap, and travelling more.

Now or never.

YOOOO! GO TO CHILE!!!! BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD.

great skiing, cheap skiing, cheap lodging, great food, great people, great atmosphere, great night life (its two bars, but that shit get poppin) and some of the best weed evar.

That was really well done. Thanks for sharing. As someone who has also traveled extensively, I would concur that some of the best money one can spend is on plane tickets.

Traveling is the best man, glad you're having the time of your life.

It's definitely my plan after I finish my degree to take the time to see the world before I settle down. I hope my life doesn't get sucked in a monotonous spiral, where every day is the same.

you dont even know how much i envy u right now. i cant even explain how much i hate college. i just wanna leave and travel the world. the problem is, i know i dont have the self discipline to get myself back into after a few years of travelling. sooo i think im gonna wait it out til i graduate. 2 more years....

obvioulsy nobody can answer the question of what is the true meaning of life, however i often feel as if travelling the world, experiencing different cultures and appreciating the earth for its true beauty comes very close ....

This thread makes me happy.. And to the traveler guy (forgot your username) you don't know how much I envy you.. Unfortunately I can't do that in this stage of life, but definitely first chance I get I'm outta here!! :)

Safe travels to you.. :)

Amazing video. Traveling is truly something that should be done by everyone. It is the best way to learn about the world and more importantly yourself.

When I was 20 I did an 8 month trip around Asia. It was by far the best experience I ever had. I came back a different man, more patient, open minded, confident and knowledgeable about the world. I left alone but wasn't on the road, it is SO easy to meet people, locals or travelers. You meet amazing people, you see amazing things and you feel as free as you'll ever be. There's no price for that. Anyway it's cheap to backpack, you can live easily with 20$ a day, some do it with way less than that.

I'm in Phuket, Thailand at the moment, just for a week. Rented a motorbike for 5$ a day and I'm touring the island having a blast. I never had any kind of driving license and I've driven bikes all around Asia, from Indonesia to China. Everything is easy, and as long as you're not stupid, safe.

So anyone who are on the edge of doing it, do not hesitate and GO.

You are an incredible troll, however you live in Toronto.. so your bleak outlook on life is understandable. To the poster above me, that is exactly it. Freedom. Not sitting in traffic on the 401 of Toronto after work, but winding through jungle on a bike through hairpins in the beating sun taking corners as fast as you safely can, racing with the locals. Venturing into locals homes and trying to break the language barrier, buying ketamine, valium, oxy, or whatever else you desire at pharmacies without a script, wet t-shirt pole dancing contests, celebrating new years on a beach with 50,000 other people, smoking a joint in a hammock between palm trees on the beach listening to the waves crash, sleeping by the shoreline in that same hammock under a full moon. You can't beat it, so don't bash it, travel.

just don't come to europe, everything here is a ripoff. and thai sounds so wack, I can just imagine all the fuckhead aussies running around smashed being obnoxious. posted from istanbul

Thailand can be amazing.

Sure if you stay in Bangkok Phuket Samui and Phanghan you'll bump into mass of tourits, young scandinavians and 60 yo sex tourists but there is much more than this.

Go to Krabi in the south then Railey beach (an idden gem) or go north to Chang Mai/Rai, Pai, Mae Long Song(?), Golden Triangle. Or go to Laos/Cambodia/Vietnam which are all amazing countries worth visiting.

The world is an amazing place.

Having said that, you can also experience some crazy nightlife in SE Asia. I just shot some vid from Patong in Phuket/Nana in Bkk. If you can fathom some weird stuff, you'll have to time of your life. I'll upload the vids pictures tmrw.

But as of right now im drunk.

A hint..

Krabi and Railey are not hidden gems, they're addressed as one of the best climbing spots in SE Asia lol, far from hidden gems. Chang Mai is a tourist center, Pai still is but not so much because of the dangerous road in. I missed the north of Thailand which sucks. Laos you can definitely get off the beaten track, but its hard from what I've heard about roads etc. Cambodia, yeah it's possible too but you'll struggle as well because it's poor outside of city centers. Koh Rong Island is BEAUTIFUL. They were filming survivor there when I was there on the side with the 7km strip of the finest, whitest, powdery sand ever. Vietnam I regretfully didn't make it to either, next time.

If you really want to travel though, not just be a tourist, the Philippines is the place to be. It's great because nearly everybody can speak english and you can get off the beaten track fairly easily as the tourist centers are few and so are the tourists in general, except for Boracay. Go see some humpback whales up in Calayan Island, some whale sharks in Donsol, the huge wakeboarding cable park in Caramines Sur, 5 to 6 foot wide clams in camiguin, thresher sharks in Malapascua, REAL indigenous tribes in Palawan that are dying off of malaria and walk around naked, dive WWII wrecks in Coron.. the list goes on and on. In southeast Asia, this is the place to be.

yes, my bleak life of heli-skiing, commercial fishing the high seas of the pacific ocean, traveling japan/europe, and etc. woe is me.

as far as videos go, i was more inspired by the yosemite project video then this one.

I think geted's point is that these threads are always fucking retarded. always a bunch of kids name dropping akin Àll cultured.

videos like this, as with "while you can" just make me think, if you only have one life, why the fuck would you want to spend it sitting doing some shitty job?
