Transportation Issue

Ok, so I posted a thread about a possible spring break trip to do some skiing in Washington a while back. I've since purchased roundtrip airfare from Pittsburgh to Seattle for March 7-12. I'll be taking the trip with three other guys. It was my original plan to ski Baker, but I've come across a problem. We're all 19 or 20, so we're not old enough to rent a car. From the places I've contacted that are closest to Baker, this poses some difficulties. We assumed, which was stupid of us, that we we could stay at a place off of 542 that would have a shuttle to the mountain. So far, we haven't found any places that do. So my question is, does anyone know of anywhere relatively near Baker that has a shuttle to the mountain? Or are we better off going to somewhere like Crystal, which has lodging at the mountain? I'd appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me. Last time I posted a thread in here I got a lot of helpful answers, but I also got a lot of bullshit responses. I'm not looking to bring masses of people to ski the PNW and I respect that all of you guys are locals, that's why I'm asking you for help. So please help me out if you can. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,Matt

Rent a U-Haul. Only have to be 18. And you can sleep in the back.

PS you can get a rental car, but you might have to put down an additional deposit. I rented all the time.

Well I guess we cant scare you away if you already bought tickets. I wouldnt be surprised if you could find a ride up with an NSer every day, but I doubt you really want to rely on that so staying at the lodge in crystal might be your best bet. Pretty sure you get 1 free ticket per night for staying there so that might help balance out the huge ticket price difference between crystal and baker. Oh and id say crystal is probably a more tourist friendly mountain than baker~

Very good idea about the U-Haul. I think that;s what we'll end up using. Very clever, thanks man, I never would've thought of that.

is it just me, or does anyone else look at this guys icon the opposite way that it is supposed to be looked at and see a hippopotamus?

btw, I know that is it a female, but come on... if you just look at the black it is definitely a hippo.

If you stayed in Glacier you could undoubtedly hitchhike up to the mountain every day. It's very easy to get picked up, even if you aren't a girl.

Yep, I'm from that place. And just like last time, I'm still not a big Steelers fan. I'm being shunned by my friends and family because I said I'd like to see the Cardinals win the Superbowl.

i'll be skiing, just like i have been during every other steeler playoff game. steeler playoff games + everyone in pittsburgh becoming a steeler fan for the playoffs = nobody goes skiing on sundays.

I'm a Steelers fan, and you can ski AND catch the superbowl easily. Leave at 3, be home at 4:30, shower, then veg out and watch the Steelers beat the Seahawks. Oops, I mean the Cardinals-- The other worst team in the NFC.

I really hope this comment doesn't bite me later...

every time i've driven to baker i've seen people hitchhiking. i gotta assume it works or people wouldnt be doin it.

its strange how the worst division in football (the nfc west) produced super bowl teams two out of the past four years.

and who showers after skiing?

Haha, yeah.

But really, no hate on the Seahawks. I want them to win it big, but not if my Steelers are involved.

I shower if I'm sore or have sweat a lot (hiking the park when its 60 degrees up there...)

Right now is a great time to stay on mtn. We are seeing a 30% decrease in customers, so hotels are letting stuff go for cheap.

Baker is great if it snowed that week, Crystal is great if it hasn't....

Thanks for the recommendation. That's going to be what I take to the mountain everyday.
... and on a side note, the Steelers did just about everything in their power to lose the game tonight. Much like three years ago, I wouldn't exactly call them deserving champions. Although watching Santonio Holmes speak on national television was very amusing.

Haha I disagree. It was a surprisingly good game, lots of twists and turns. Felt a little more college-ball esque because of so many turnovers/penalties, and Fitzgerald gave us quite a run for our money. Cardinals did great, and if they weren't playing the Steelers I totally would've rooted for them.

I'm not saying it wasn't a good game, but Pittsburgh could've easily turned that game into a blowout. Instead, they gave up control of the game to the Cardinals and it took a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown to give the Steelers the momentum back.
