Transcendentalism in todays society

Does anyone have a good example of transcendentalism in today's society? I have to write a blog about it for English and I have no clue what to write. Any ideas ns?! Any help is greatly appreciated!!
 
Hippies. They fit the definition of transcendentalism near perfectly. They don't conform, only to what they believe in. And they are very positive and appreciate nature.

Not an exact example but hopefully it helps spark some ideas??

Talk about the guy who moved to alaska to just be with nature. I believe there is a movie about it. It was pretty recent. Just look it up.
 
read the book "into the wild" (thats the book/ movie the third post was talking about)

the guys name was christopher mccandless aka alexander supertramp and i think he did this back in the 90's. really inspiring story and krakauer pieces it together very well. he is a paragon of transcendentalism.
 
I just wrote a paper that focused on transcendentalism. It didn't focus much about about todays society. You could maybe write about enviormentalists.

left society to be out in nature after graduating from college and giving up his money and material lifestyle. for transcendentalists material possessions=heresy

i respect thoreau's work but god do i fucking hate him. such a stuck up piece of shit
