i need to get a tranceiver this winter. basically i just want something easy to use and somewhat cheap.......whats everybody reccomend?

ortovox, harder to use,, tracker dts, what i have, is easy to use. i love my tracker.

i have ortovox m2, and it workds really well. ive used my friends bca tracker dts, and it works really well too.

The Baryvox Digital receiver or the new Ortovox X1 are the best. The BCA DTS is great also. The Ortovox is the best though, it can issolate one signal between multiple signals and multple burried people so you don't run in circles chasing a couple of signals.

 
Cheap and 'easiest to use' are not both going to happen. The easiest transceivers to use are the newer digital/directional ones, but those are spendy.

Actually, the Ortovox X1 kind of sucks. The beacon is actually an analog beacon until you get within 10 meters of the sending unit, and then it finally automatically switches to digital. Until then, you have to do grid searches like a traditional beacon, which are slower than the DTS and Barryvox.

Barryvox or Tracker DTS are the best, and easier. If you don't really think your life is worth that much, get a cheap analog F1. But when your buddy gets buried, and you can't find him, well... At least you saved some money.

 
yea, i was thinking bout gettin one of those, but trouble is, theres nowhere where its needed in vermont, 'cept when i cant find my truck in the dam parkin lot.

i think im gonna go for the tracker DTS

i can get one for $300 plus a free lifelink shovel....seems like a decent deal

They pretty much sell for $300 no matter where you are. You can order ones cheaper from Europe, but with the shipping and duties, it'll end up costing more. So getting a free shovel along with the DTS isn't bad. You could always sell the shovel for $30 or something if you didn't want it.
