There's two ways to say everything. I'm not saying he's not right, just that he doesn't need to be an elitist prick about it. I personally hate the whole "edm" thing too. I'm very much a deep house and techno fan, but unless its a blatantly obvious mistake (like calling avicii techno for example) I'm not anal about calling people out on genres, because if someone enjoys the music then fuck it, that's a good thing. If someone's stoked on above and beyond shouldn't one be grateful they're not listening to Steve aoki and praising him like he's a god of dance music? I dunno, maybe I'm missing something here.

dude i'm not arguing with you, i know there is a big difference. i'm just saying you don't need to be such a douche about it to people, it's just music. also i'm not sure at which point that implies i listen to hardwell and tritonal but that's a different conversation.

With regards to the last question, yes it's good, but if you listen to a large amount of electronic music the difference between trance and current A&B is as obvious as that between Avicii and techno. In BPM alone, it's pretty easy to distinguish the two, although I'm in no way saying that's the only difference.

Although I try not to be, I find myself pretty anal about categorizing songs in genres. I don't like when someone calls a drum and bass track dubstep, or trance house, even though I know it really doesn't matter. But anyways, there is some progressive house out there that is pretty good-
