Trampolines

My parents wont let me buy a trampoline because they think they are too dangerous. I was reading up on spring free trampolines and discovered that tey are much safer than ordinary trampolines. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about spring free trampolines and if they are as good as ordinary tramps. +k for help

I went to a tramp training thing with this ski group thing called Northwest Freeride, and it was at a Spring Free tramp store that had a bunch out on the floor that we jumped on. Theyre super legit. Better than normal tramps. They have a really good bounce everywhere, vs just in the middle (think of the entire thing going up and down evenly no matter where you are). I found it a little harder to land clean because of that, but the net saved my ass like 20 times. Only downside is that theyre quite expensive.

Haha, this.
Also, don't get a spring free tramp. They hurt your knees and cost too much. Get a rectangular (if you have the dough, otherwise circle is fine) tramp with a net.

its not that i cant afford it its that my parents think that im gonna break my neck on a trampoline and if a springfree is cheaper than they would be willing to fork out the cash becasue they know how much i want a trampoline

The net covers the springs so you can't fall into them anyway. But, the dangerous part about tramps is the possibility of falling off. From a safety view, the net, not the springs system is whats important. Also, even more safe is in ground with good pads around.

i reckon spring free ones kinda suck a bit, not alot of bounce, you should try get a second hand olympic one and dig it into the ground, gyms offload them from time to time, and you can normally get a pretty good deal that way

I would say that the main ones come from landing on your head off the tramp. You can get hurt landing on the trampoline undoubtedly but that doesn't matter what sort of spring system you are using and it isn't generally as bad because it is softer with a shorter fall.

Just limit the amount of times ul fall on your head, iv had a tramp for years with no injury and none of my mates have any injuries from it.

i had this problem for years, because both my parents were so worried that i would injure myself, but just last year they gave in.. I have whats called a vikan trampoline, its circular, but suuppper bouncy.. Ive used it nearly everyday since and have not had any problems.. The mats are super supportive of the springs, and ive found that spring free trampoline are terrible, at least the ones from costco and such.

I feel you on this. Try to convince them and say that a tramp will make skiing safer so you won't go and huck tricks that you don't know how to throw on snow.

spring free trampolines aren't nearly as bouncy as any spring trampoline. And they're just as dangerous if you flip and land on your neck.

Well injury wise, spring free tramps are most likely safer simply beacuse you dont go as high. I had a tramp with straps instead of spring for three years and it sucked but there were no injuries at all. This summer I convinced my parents to buy a sick rectangular tramp with springs and within a month one kid broke his knee and my bro broke his foot.
Bottom line is it depends what type of non-spring tramp you get, but its not the springs that are going to injure you, its the way you land and the height that that tramp send you that is going to cause you to land awkward and hurt yourself

yea theyre pretty safe but stretch really easily, so if you wiegh more than around 170 or something, you will bottom out

i jumped on a springfree tramp over the weekend and the shit was SO legit. springfree tramps defnitely don't suck. lots of soft areas and no metal. I would should your parents their website or something
