Tram laps record at the bird

Record for tram laps at snowbird is 30 in a day. Either Saturday or Sunday, lines permitting, I'm gonna find out if it's breakable cause I want that title. Anyone else ever wanted to give this a try?

is it even possible? it's like a 10 minute ride, so you beat the next tram down in ten minutes for a 20 minute lap. Thats 3 laps an hour. Tram runs 9am-3pm, so 6 hours. That means 18 laps possible right? Or am I calculating it wrong?

Well if the tram breaks down then restarts quickly you could pull a lap wayy faster because you could hop in the other car

just ski faster

Get 210s, point them, straight, yolo

Honestly if you're going over 50 you barely feel any moguls. IT's the same with washboard roads in a car, you'll just float over top of them.

I know I can make top to bottom in about 3-5 min on my usual jump line and I did 20 laps on sunday not all day

Tram runs 9am-3:45 pm. I find that on average I can make about 4 laps an hour depending on loading and offloading times. Don't know if that 8 min up and down time is accurate, it certainly feels faster. Even with that, 4 times 6.75=27, so I don't know how they got 30. It sounds like it was arranged for them.

Give it a shot. Best shot is a weekday so smaller lines. Take the straightest line down. Ski with a pack full of water and food so no breaks. Don't forget to track and post your report here. I'll give you $5, but you also have to post proof of the old record so we know it exists. 31 laps is a long day especially standing for it all....

I work during the week, otherwise I'd definitely do it then. I'm going 7/11 taquitos and pocket bacon for lunch. I'll see about either Saturday or Sunday

last winter I saw some dudes hit a full dab rig on the tram and blow the smoke out over the heads of some little mormon kids

Theres probably some crusty-ass 60 year old who has been skiing LCC since the 70s that probably has this record beat by like double haha, good luck though. ill be up hitting them wicked-ass snakes this weekend.

It's less how much you can ski and more how many trams can run in one day

Or they just did the early bird which anyone can pay extra to do.

"Starting at 9:01 a.m. sharp, the group made the first of what was to be the maximum number of tram rides — 30 — possible before the scheduled closing at 3:45 p.m. "

It sounds like you're fucked, bud.

If I can make top to bottom in a minute I'm not

Top to bottom from the tram is not physically possible in one minute, sorry bud.

Yes it is. He just has to straight line the entire mountain. I say go for it and film it.

I talked to a team operator. Basically they only run the team at about 8/10ths speed usually to strain the machinery less. However, if I could bamboozle my way into getting them to run it full speed one day it might be possible. I'm thinking sunny, cold winter week day and just mob down Peruvian like I usually do. The issue is that I want to ski the fun lines off of it, but I also want to test how fast I can make one run down the tram because I feel like straightlining the cirque is probably the fastest, though I haven't tried that yet.

I’ve got a pair of 194 Dynastar Legend Pro XXL skis that I’ll donate to this cause.

Heres the Evo bio to prove they are the only Ski suitable for this “Dynastar Legend Pro XXL Skis 2010: The Dynastar Legend Pro XXL Skis are built just like a race stock Super G ski from Dynastar s Race Room, but this big mountain destroyer has an insatiable appetite that can’t be curbed by corduroy. Featuring full vertical sidewalls, two layers of metal and a wood core, the Dynastar Legend Pro XXL is an oversized package you won’t want to miss.”

LMK when it’s happening.

I mean, if you're offering. I picked up a pair of fatypus d-senders 2016 earlier, so I figured I'd give them a shot first. I'd guess I'll try it sometime Feb or March depending on conditions.

They’re sitting in my garage with nothing on em my man. You’re more than welcome to use them for this

It would be sweet if they set up an Enduro on the Tram like they do on the Pali at A-Basin.

Run the lift as fast as they can have long hours keep jerry's out of the way.

When I worked at the Bird we could get a stupid amount of laps 40+ skiing just Gad 2, than Wilbere till 4:30.

Having skiied snowbird like twice, t2b within a minute is really ambitious. Gl op looking forward to the gopro vid

I don't think a minute is possible, sub 2 could be though I think cause my fastest time down my jump line on slow skis was about 3 min

Did some recon, Peruvian would get you more vert at 2 min T2B which is achievable IMO, but we need Andersons to be groomed. In theory under perfect conditions, I could break 100k vert in a day which is more than that tram lap record attempt was.

That would be an impressive as hell achievement. But I hate to say it, part of the magic of the tram record is that it's the tram.

You'd get kudos for endurance for sure. 100k vert is insane.

But I think the tram record has you beat on style points. And ladies like style

Nah in this case, fuck style. 100k vert in a day is some shit you'd scribe on your epitaph. Take a PTO and do it on a weekday so less lines.

Maybe not this year. Tram line is always long even on a quiet day just due to grouping on the tram.. Would rather take super-laps from gad side back over to peruvian side and then back over and up and down and all over lol.

I'd be bombing chips all day. The thing with the tram is that the tram itself is the rate limiting factor. Peruvian, it's all about how fast you can ski. If I can get in 42 Peruvian laps, that's 101136 vert in a day. That's 8 minute lift ride, 2 minutes down. accounting for slop time, it's probably not doable but I haven't timed a Peruvian lap of mine in awhile just going straight.

apropos of nothing, how fast would I have to go to descend 2084 feet in three minutes?

I'm trying to get 100k in a day at my hill. Hypothetically it should be possible if I night ski.

I've never ridden the bird and am sitting on my couch wondering why i read the whole thread acting like i knew what everyone was talking about...

So you gonna do this or what? The people need this.

I work a ton right now, if I get a chance this year it will be on a sunny spring Thursday, I have not abandoned my hopes of accomplishing this feat
