sometimes i take the train, greatly underrated.

I've taken the train to New York before, it was sick.

I meant this thread more along the lines of Rail Fan/ Benching/ Hopping ect though

If there are train snobs in the world, then they'll be on NS. Can't wait to watch you guys argue about rails.

Complaining about them is the number #1 European past time.

If you want to instantly connect with a European tell them phrases such as:

"My train was late today, again!

"The trainstation was such a mess, the cleaners must be on strike again."

"There were people chatting loudly in the silence coupe today, what a low-life scum, probably the result of bad parenting."

It's not that terrible really, but we just love to complain about them.

And just look at how yellow the Dutch Dubbeldeksinterregiomaterieel is!

I used to rock out with my trains out when I was little. Also got an electric train set at one point. The good olds days.

Now the only thing I have to do with trains is getting around places when I don't have or don't want to bring my car.

/Cool story hansel

I've always wanted to take a trip on one of those trains where they have separate rooms and shit where you can sleep like you see in movies. I feel like that would be a great time.

the European rail system is whats up you can go anywhere at any time. when i graduate from college i plan on buying a month inter-rail pass and travel from prague/budapest to spain seeing everything in between. my good italian friends did it this summer and had a blast

Ive become pretty interested in train hopping since last summer when I met a guy who was quite experienced.

He had travelled across Canada and back dozens of times via freight hopping, and he had some incredible stories to go along with it.

He was planning a trip from Ontario to B.C, down to California and then back across to the Eastern Seaboard of the US all via freights.

If you an figure it out and play it cool, freighting is not only one of the coolest most incredible experiences you can have but also an incredibly affordable and effecient means of long distance travel.

When I graduate I plan to try and cross Canada at least once on a train.

A girl that went to my HS went train hopping in colorado and fell and got her legs chopped off... Bad news

Was really expecting the first response to be "I ran train on OP's mom"

With that being said, taking the train from one place to another is greatly underrated. It can be much cheaper than driving, and you just get to sit there and chill.

America is in desperate need of a high speed rail system for affordable national travel. Airfare is ridiculous for the most part
