Train to Whistler

I live in cali, and am wondering if anyone has taken a train to whistler or whatnot. Or if they have taken any other train ski trips. Prices? how was it?

amtrak only goes to vancouver, and then there is a panoramic train or something of the sort that goes from vancouver to whistler, however, to do that last stretch is like $100+ each way, so its wicked expensive. BUT, the train, to my knowledge, doesnt run in the winter (at least not yet) so there is only greyhound (which is cheap).

done the train to vancouver then bus to whistler and back numerous times, plus trains to other places to ski. sweet way to travel if it can be done

This has nothing to do with the thread, but it made me realize that I have never ridden on a train before. How odd is that.

i usually take the train from seattle, which is like $20 each way, then like another $15 each way to whistler. From northern california, it'll be around mid $60s to mid $70s or more each way to vancouver. Its cheaper if youre a student or have an ISIC card (but not significantly).

i went from michigan to salt lake last year on amtrak.

theres no security, so bring beer and a bunch of friends and it makes for a good time.

But really, has anyone taken the bus either? is there anyway to stop at other resorts?

not so, I almost got kicked off amtrak in the middle of Nebraska on the way to denver for being drunk, they called the cops to meet us at the next stop... and the bastard conductor poured out my Black Velvet.

were you acting wild?

just be chill about it and kept it discreet. or maybe it just depends on the conductor.
