it's missing something but its still pretty good

Yeah, I'd agree with that.

Watched the first episode last night and it felt like they were forcing it. Which makes sense a little - like that they would pull out a lot of the old cliches for the season opener. But still, the beauty of the old series was how subtle the jokes were, and how they evolved over the years. I'd be bummed if they just tried to cram seven seasons worth of jokes into this one. Also I'm cynical/sceptical about it being on Netflix and not Show Case, but I think that's just me.

Anyway, watching episode 2 as we speak and it's pretty funny to start off so we'll see how that goes.

Yeah, It's diffrent for sure. What I notice is a lot more swearing, which isn't really a bad thing. Might have to do with them not having as much regulations since they're not with showcase any more, but who knows.

See, I didn't feel that way. That's why I liked it. It feels to me like they just slipped back into it. I was worried it was going to feel forced, but it seems like they pulled off the old magic again.

I've only seen the first two episodes, but it definitely captures some of the magic of the original seasons. I was scared of it being kinda like the movies, all scripted and forced. There is some of that original charisma missing (maybe less improvised?) but i have enjoyed it so far. I just hope they don't try to make the jokes too blatant. Just the general shitshow of each situation is what makes it so funny, not even the specific jokes.

Good point about improvisation, some of the best scenes were always total gongshows with Randy taking off his pants or something in the middle of it.

I think the new camera work makes it feel different too. It's less janky and each shot is more cinematic. Like cutting between close-ups on faces or smaller details versus (what I remember as) more wide-angle shots with longer takes and less editing in the original series.

And to Bart_Man? (shit, sorry don't remember your username/not gonna go back and check) Yeah, I'm not against you on that one - they definitely did jump right back into it. I guess I'm just a little overly critical cause I want to love this as much as the older seasons. Anyway, FWIW, episode 2 was better than the first, and Donald is shaping up to be a hilarious character.

pretty pumped that the boys are back. but you fucking can't have corey without trevor. hope he shows up soon.

doesnt feel the same having it in HD

I agree, I dont like it, I miss having a shitty quality for once. It kinda makes it more funny when its low quality

Ive never really got the hype behind the show. I've watched a bunch of episodes from all season because my roommates were in love with it and just never thought it was that funny

They definitely stepped it up in season 8 compared to season 7 imo. There's a shit ton more rickyisms in it so it makes it perfect for a tpb drinking game as well!

Im on e7 right now, prettty good so far. The episode just started and lahey walking up rock hard its unreal hahahahaha

I accidentally binged watched the entire season yesterday afternoon..

yeppp! had to watch it all last night when I got home from work. It was awesome! nothing terrible done to the show, all the new characters work well imo, still the same great old shenanigans

honestly its exactly what i needed from a new season, i think j-rocs persona in the first few episodes was his best performance from the series

Exactly what I came here to post...

This, like skateboarding should be filmed in SD with a VX1000 from the 90's.

It's like how Fubar 2 was plenty funny, but completely lacked something raw from the original ridiculousness that was the SD Fubar 1.

All good things in Canada start on SD. The end.

Watched the entire season. Amazing. Really hope they do a Season 9. I know they have two more movies planned.

they talk about it in this. they say season 9 is already filmed and will come out in the spring!

Pleasantly satisfied after going in without the highest expectations. As mentioned it's missing something, but they do manage to capture quite a bit of the magic that is The Trailer Park boys.

Finished the season. I was disappointed in the lack of Lahey's shitisms. Overall, solid. They struck again with success. Let the season 9 stoke begin!

2 more episodes left. I'm super happy with how its turned out. Not exactly the classic, but plenty of great scenes. One of the greasiest seasons yet. But I fucking hope that bobby doesn't become a character. I hate conky with a passion, to the point where I don't even watch those episodes so I don't want to see that shit.

Yeah. Definitely not enough shithawks or shitburgers.

This guy gets it. I was also disappointed that there was not ONE appearance from the bottle kids...

I thought it was great. I wish it was longer than 10 episodes. They have to be doing a season 9, they can't leave it how that season ended

I liked how the previous seasons were filmed with a more amateur or "home movie" style. But its fuckin' Trailer Park Boys, can't go wrong any way.

Who's got your belly?

(the only thing I was really disappointed by was that there was only 10 episodes.)

i watched it all and really dug it. things i will comment on though:

sucks that trevor and phil collins are gone

the production seems better, but in a bad way. it doesnt look like it was shot on a handycam anymore, and i kinda liked it better when it did. i also noticed that it was directed by a bunch of different people (including cory bowles and jay baruchel) but not mike clattenberg. definitely gave it a different feel

J-roc is the most consistently funny person on that show, hands down

lahey and randy are still the best couple on TV, and donald seemed to fit in pretty well. cyrus is still a cunt and sam is still in all his caveman glory. i thought barb was pretty spot on too.

everyone looks older (as they should) but all in all, i thought that it was really good follow up and well executed. way to go
