Just moved into a new spot that is a half block behind a brand new Trader Joe's, and I'm in love.

I fucking hate cooking mostly because I hate the cleaning and dishes afterward, so I eat out quite a bit. I also try to eat fairly healthy (somehow managed to not eat any fast-food in years, yay, go me), so its kind of a wallet-killer. Now that I've found my new friend Joe, he supplies me with all the quick and easy fixins for half the price I usually spend at Safeway/going out. AND the one by me is the flagship store for Colorado, meaning they are the only Joe's store in the state with a full liquor license... so I can satisfy all my liquor, beer, wine, and drunken munchy needs in one stop, a half block away :D

Their frozen section? A lazy bachelor's dream. Eating one of their $1 chicken burritos right now, mhmm... Gonna defrost some $4 Ahi steaks overnight for tomorrow's lunch and hammer that shit with soy sauce and ginger. Goddamn I'm classy.

Their liquor section? Full of the most amazing, cheap shit you can't find anywhere else (in Denver at least).

Suggestions for the uninitiated:

Simpler Times pilsner- $4 a six pack. Great beer from Wisconsin. No, its not a cousin of Milwaukee's Best; it's actually good beer, for less than a dollar a piece. Didn't even know that was possible.

Charles Shaw (2 buck Chuck)- Bitches love this shit, and it doesn't come in a bag, so you can look resourceful, yet sophisticated, en route to getting shitfaced and peeing in her butt.

Safeway can tongue punch my fartbox. Trader Joe's has my heart, forever and always
 
TJ's is the shit! always eat their four cheese pizza, the channa masala, the mac n cheese, and the ice cream chocolate chip cookie sandwiches are the shit. also not sure if you've tried oranjeboom yet but you gotta get some

these are now next on the list. i will probably buy every single item in the store at least once within the next 6 months. will update my progress with new finds soon

Trader Joe's sells the only canned salsas I can enjoy--the mango one, spicy pineapple, and cowboy caviar. Every other store bought canned salsa I have tried from grocery stores sounds promising but is only a huge disappointment and gets thrown away.

Their beer is good and cheap too.

They used to have milk and white chocolate chip cookies, but I haven't seen them for years. For better or worse, at least I wont be as fat now

unpopular opinion but tjs is overrated. their produce isnt very fresh and meats are expensive. i will concede they have a decent selection and variety of frozen foods, but i'm not real big on those to start with

Not at all, I love me some Chuck from time to time too, just typically in the company of said bitches. I find it best enjoyed with a nice steak dinner, followed by a shitty romantic comedy. I will pay zero attention to the movie, and spend all my concentration trying to get the pants off. She doesn't like it? Blame it on the wine, drink more wine. She likes it? Take pants off, drink more wine.

Or if I'm by myself (most likely scenario), take pants off, eat steak dinner, drink whole bottle, fap, pass-out on couch naked but with socks on, wake up wondering where the hell my pants are. Classy, right?
 
Fuck yes Trader Joe's is my shit, best instant/frozen food out. Their ready in two minute pad thai is one of my favorites

Dried mango is a great snack to have in your backpack while skiing too.

Best frozen shit ever, best cheap beer/wine/specialties, best snack foods, a couple good coffee beans, awesome cheeses, good produce, had some good meats before

We're from Canada, and when we were in Arizona visiting some family friends, we shopped exclusively at TJ's. It was so great, my mom brought back a shit ton of this grain and rice stuff that you just steam and it's delicious. No TJ's in Canada though :/

Id probably shop there two times a week if it was close by, but the only trade joes in Utah are in slc. Praying they open a store in PC sometime in the future, that place is the best.

Whats a bummer about utah is no wine sales in the grocery stores, so no 2 buck chuck.

Their veggie pot stickers are the best things in the world. The pad thai that come in the individual chinese boxes are also bangin.

Trader joes is the best. So much better than whole foods.
 
Hahahaha. OP lives in my old hood. I lived at 7th and Garfield. Know how I know that's where he lives? Because there is a stupid law in Colorado that only one store under a business name is able to sell liquor, so the Joe's at 8th and Colorado is the only one that sells beer and wine. There is one not too far from me and there is a rumor that a new one is going to open up in Happy Canyon, but they won't sell beer/wine. I'm sure people would love to have a Trader Joe's in Summit or Eagle County, but that's not likely to happen, because they would not be able to sell beer and wine and that would make it really tough for them to make a profit. Funny how our supposedly amazing entrepreneur/governor Hickenlooper can't fix this.

NameTag is another decent lager they sell for $4. Pretty much on par with pbr, maybe even a slight step above. Haven't had the Simpler Times pils yet, but holy shit stay away from the Simpler Times lager. It's cheap and strong so I bought it for a party once, but its so fucking sweet I didn't even feel like I was drinking beer. Got two 6-packs that night and still have 4 beers in my fridge, from like 5 months ago

Used to frequent all the time in Sacramento, then moved to Boise and whatttta you know, they opened up a brand new store downtown couple months after moving. The parking lot has a panda and chipotle which makes it the worst in the state of Idaho but fighting it is worth the frozen orange chicken.

So what your saying is you can buy weed in Colorado but can't buy alcohol in grocery stores. That is so weird.

I also go eith with the frozen Chinese and Mexican foods and the pasta and Thai sauces.

Im pretty sure you can buy 3.2 beer? Its kinda like utah, or is that just summit? Its like a state regulation law, the state has control of wine and liquor sales so basically they only sell it in state controlled/licenced stores I believe. Or something like that.

Zactly. And I think one liquor license to sell retail only covers one store and I don't believe one company can hold multiple retail liquor licenses.
