Tracking and communication

So, was kind of wondering what other people think about this, but I almost absolutely abhor the idea that when I am in the woods or in the mountains that someone could even (possibly) communicate with me via text or Facebook. Even worse over protective parents tracking their kid. I can barely explain why i feel this way, all I know is I don't take my phone into the woods, or mountains. Probably stupid but it is how i feel.

Yeah you should probably just smash your phone.

Seriously being in the woods by yourself is the one good position to be able to be found, 99.999999% chance you aren't important enough for someone to want to find you, and people get lost all the time

yeah man, methods of rescue are super lame.

just put it on airplane mode. you can turn on location if you get stranded, and you still get to keep your sense of superiority over all your dumb friends

So instead of turning your phone off, or putting it on silent and not checking it, you leave it at home?

You're very smart....
