Hi everyone, I'm doing a first year university art project on a Canadian town, which happens to be Golden. If anyone lives there or has been there, It would be great to get a local or visitor's opinion of the town. Any random/interesting info would be appreciated, such as:-hangouts, good places to eat or drink-pastimes/sports/lifestyles (other than the obvious skiing, snowboarding, Mountain biking, etc)-just in general what it's like to live there, anything else you can think of that might be interesting or entertaining, for example, I just found out you can get a $100 rebate if you trade in your old 13 or more litre toilet for a new 6 litre one to save water (get on it!).Satire and parody also is fine.Thanks in advance for your time!

Check out the website, just google it. read up some newspaper articles online.

For stuff like you mentioned, Canyon's Edge Restaurant is amazing. Stuff to do can include the obvious, then golfing, fishing, hiking. other stuff.

I have googled it and gone to the website, The newspaper article idea is good, what is the local newspaper called? I'm looking for the kind of things like the restaurant you mentioned that only locals would be likely to know about, just any random facts, especially if there are any kinds of town traditions, quirks or trends that you might not find elsewhere.
 
Eat also at the whitetooth bistro, red diamond(chinsese) Eagles Eye( top of ski hill).

the newspaper is the Golden Star.

For stuff that the town does can include Masque Parades, Film Festival, they hold "the worlds most demented mountain bike race", Basically 12kms down mt.7. Attracts bikers from around the globe. Towns full of sled necks,red necks, granolas, ski bums, mtn bikers, Pucks and hockey bums.

The town's main industry is the lumber mill, ski hill and railroad. Kicking Horse Canyon has one crazy ass bridge that in on the highway.

I can't think of anything else
