Just got some Patagonia upstride pants for 170, good deals are out there my dude!

Strafe is good and worth the money.

If you can’t afford, wear long underwear with tear away track pants and pack your normal snow pants.

If you can tour in bibs, good on you. Always were sweaty so I went to pants.

Been in some version of the Arcteryx Rush softshell for years. Hard to find at a good price but they're protective, nicely breathable, and the pockets are right on the money.

I just picked up the Dynafit TLT setup for skimo training days or warm spring days. The jacket was 200$can and the pants were 220$can.

But, if money if available, go for a Gore-tex PRO shell. They will run you up 600$, but seriously worth every dollar. I bought the Armada Vector pro pants 5 years ago. It comes with unzippable bib, inner thighs and outer leg. They are baggy AF, mid size pockets and stupid lightweight. I wore it in the rain, bushwacking, freeriding… hell, I even skimo raced with them.
