Touring bindings

Out of those 2, the Tyrolia/Head/4FRNT looks better and has better features..

I choose MFD+FKS though..
 
Me too...I don't mind it being heavy as shit because it's so solid on the way down and on lift-serve powder days (if we ever got ANY this year in VT). Caylors+MFD+FKS = amazing.
 
It's not though. It is very very plasticy and cheap. Te guardian/tracker is do solid it's crazy, you will feel like you are in your normal bindings with them. Anyone who tours with mfds is crazy.
 
I'd much rather get the Guardian/Tracker. More metal, less plastic, along with the STH 16 heel piece.
 
My only beef with the MFD plate with downhill clamps is that there still aren't any alpine bindings that accommodate a touring boot. I own the Dalbello Virus and the souls of the boot are not interchangeable. This leaves me with no choice than to look into a touring binding. Otherwise the MFD plate looks sick.
 
my goal looking at any of these ski first, tour second bindings is just that. ski first. If im bombing around at the hill and hitting hard chunder more often than soft snow, bashing bumps and what not, the binding needs to hold. For me, the tour option is more of a secondary feature. id love to go hit up a quick line without having to doubt my gear, but more so for work have the option to respond to avalanche rescue, or be able to ski below area boundaries for mountain rescues and be able to tour back up. The marker duke and barons have worked fine for the last couple of years for that but over time and days on snow, the plastic wears and you get play in the bindings. I haven't had a chance to ski the mdf plate but what i see as a flaw is the lever system for locking the heel of the plate. Ive skied the fritchi bindings before and they have a similar system, and ive had those unlock when you hit a hard bump, cat track etc at high speeds. the salomon binding is looking pretty solid so far to me. otherwise I have trekkers for the hill and keep and alpine setup on my gear.

MFD = a good way to ruin your resort skis

Dukes/barons were a good product but the new guardian+new tyrolia will outclass them

And if you can't afford/dont want 2 setups just get some treckers.
 
Still trying to decide what im going to get next year for a touring set up. One half of me says to go with a solid alpine boot, with some dukes or the guardians. The other half wants to go with a dynafit set-up, some dynafit Titans with FT12's, but from what I have read they cant stand up to everyday charging in-bounds
 
Yeah hes crazy. Especially the lines he skis. Any chance we will see him switch to using the tracker though?
 
I just got a pair of the fritschi titanal 3s, any experiences? I read some good reviews on tgr but am a bit nervous that they are only 10 din.

Ski can flex normal since the moving heel piece.. Read the blister gear review, its solid
 
Guardian/Tracker.
The Salomon/Atomic athletes are hoarding the demo pairs that they've gotten.
More elasticity in the heel than the STH 16, and it's actually 2% stiffer laterally than the STH. All that plus more metal, especially in the heel lockdown, and I'm sold. Haven't been this excited for a new product for a while.
 
The farther away from the lifts and sidecountry the more dyanifits/plums you see.wonder why that is?

I love it when they pretend like they have skills like sage or really need 16 din
 
Looking forward to trying out some of these new high DIN options. I'm still running Duke's and havent had any real issues with them yet. I do like the idea of not having to clip out to go from tour to ski.
