Touring bindings or alpine trekkers...

hey everyone, I am in need of some advice on this subject. I would like to start touring and skinning in the back country and I am not sure if I should get some real touring bindings or go with the alpine trekkers. (if you haven't heard of alpine trekkers this is what they are.. http://www.backcountryaccess.com/product/trekker/ ) One reason why I am considering the trekkers is because I have this years bacons and I may want to get fatter skis someday so I am not sure if I should mount touring bindings on my bacons or not. With the trekkers this wouldn't be an issue seeing as how they clip in and out of your bindings but I am also concerned about the durability of the trekkers because I want them to last. If you guys think it would be better to go with touring bindings, are there any consequences for remounting them?lots of questions! would love to hear your opinions!

Thanks

depends on how much skiing you are doing and where. If you will be clocking more than 15 days a season skiing in the backcountry getting touring gear is a worthy investment. but if not I'd go with the trekkers, I love mine and I only tour for maybe 3 or 4 days a year.

okay, well i would hope to get as many days as possible, plus I could use them out back at the resort I ski at. Thanks a lot man!

Don't buy Trekkers, you probably won't even get a season out of them, and they can damage your bindings pretty easily. Just buy some used alpine touring bindings and use them at the resort too

You could get a touring binding for DIN boots like the Salomon Guardian, Tyrolia Adrenaline, or Marker Duke's. If you're trying to get as many days as possible, but not enough to justify a dedicated touring setup I think this is a good route to go.

ya I have been looking at the dukes and guardians. might go with the dukes because theyre a little cheaper but seem like a good binding for me

Just get Trekkers. Cheap and easy. Most of the shit you hear about them is from people who have never used them. They work OK.

i think im going with the dukes, it just seems like any cheap alternatives to touring bindings will eventually bite the dust. you have dukes to sell?
