Toughest skis?

Hello newschoolers, im looking to buy a new pair of skis for this upcoming season. I am looking to buy a ski that is very durable and will last a long time. I would also like it keep my price under $400. If anyone could give me some help that would be great. thanks!
 
well seeing as you gave us no info on what kind of ski you want or info about yourself, the only ski i can recomend for under 400 would be last years AR6s
 
im sorry. I ski on the east coast, and i do rails much more then jumps. My last ski was the Lib Tech pipe skis. I just need a ski that would hold up for a season or two, with heavy use. I skied my lib techs pretty hard and they held up nicely. Just a little too pricy for me. Thanks for the input.
 
2011 Silencer. Seriously they slay and pretty much the cheapest skis out there next year.
 
I'm guessing you're looking for a park ski...if that's the case, try and find some Volkl Walls, Armada THalls, Line Chronics, or Rossi S4s for under $400.
 
Wider park ski, 100% symmetrical in shape and flex, soft and buttery, cap construction, fairly durable, but by no means the most durable ski out there (main problems are top sheet damage, and tail rockering if taken off too many big jumps/backseat landings). Really fun park ski that can even handle some powder, it's just too soft for my taste.
 
If hes doing more rails than jumps then I would say no to the chronics, walls, and S4s. But the scilencers would be perfect for you. Get the 2011 because they pretty much made the whole line more durrable
 
ON3Ps are more durable than any of the big brands INLUDING Line and Armadas from my experience. You can pick up some blue steeles for around that with the presale pricing.
 
he gave you the warning as will i from what ive read from the threads of these skis they were light and poppy, but had major durability issues from many many edge cracks to to skis snapping
 
Any ski that has a cap construction. Afterbangs, Anthems, Invaders if you can get them, etc, all very durable, and cheap

Or AR6s

well if your doing mainly rails, the line afterbangs slay rails and i bought me a pair for just 200 bucks. hope this helps
 
just the armada tanner halls. I kid you not those things are fucking tanks and great for rails. you will love them!
 
find an older pair of public enemies with the ptex top sheet or a pair of head mad trix 70s (the red/white ones)

only two skis i know of that will survive nuclear holocaust.
 
Armadas can take a real heavy beating, along with Volkls. Both a little more expensive though. Im sure you could find some for cheap somewhere. I have been hearing a lot of great things about On3p too, as said above.
 
We use 1.8mm thick 4001 sintered base material, I've seen exactly one production ski from last year pick up a coreshot. Whats even more amazing was that that 1cm x 3cm coreshot went right into the edge, and the edge held.

Because we use thicker base material than most of the other manufacturers, we also have to use a thicker edge. Lots of companies stress that their edges are X by X wide = doublewide or whatever, compared to something. On every pair of our skis, the edge is 2 and a half millimeters wide and nearly as tall. They're beefy. They are heavy compared to many other edges we could use. But it takes a lot to break them on a rock or rail.

honestly if you can find a set of 06-07 chronic blends you will be set. finding them new would be bad ass. i regret selling mine. I dropped a 15 foot cliff onto rocks with them and didn't do any damage. I also landed on a lot of rocks and rode them for 2 seasons. They held up to rails and rocks and some heavy use with no damage. I regret selling those things. cuz they were awesome. you prolly won't find em now but maybe the new blends are awesome too?
 
Find some skis that are made in the Never Summer factory such as icelantics or some special edition d-structure skis because these are some top quality skis and have relative few problems when compared to that of other manufactures that press shit skis in China.
 
you missed out on the presale...

as for anthems, they are lines and therefore have awful durability. especially their cap skis, and softer only adds to the durability issues
