Total Solar Eclipse 2017

Not a whole lot but I'll put the glasses my mom got to use, new England's gonna get it good in 2024 though.

I haven't been able to drive my car for a week because of the traffic for this damn thing. It better live up to the unnecessary amount of hype.

Being in Canada means no totality for meh. Probably won't even see it cause I gotta go places and don't have glasses...

Well I took the day off and got some glasses. They are saying 90% where I live I am not battling traffic for that extra 10% I'll be chilling on my lawn with a Cold one.

How dangerous is it to get a glimpse without glasses? Gunna put like 3 pairs of sunnies on and look for a second

I mean it's just looking at the sun... so I guess if your eyes hurt it's time to stop.

Kinda what I figured. Fugit

The thing is.. you might not even be able to see it. The sun is so fucking bright it's gonna block out the moon unless you are in totality. You in Reno?

Wouldn't suggest this OP, very sketchy and running a major risk for permanent eye damage. Literally you could fry your eyes from the inside, where it leaves a spot in your vision. Idk about you but that would be super annoying to live the rest of your life with a decent circular sized blurry/blind spot. Stay safe mane.

I mean....is it different than looking at the sun normally? Obviously I'm not gunna sit there and stare at it

I'm not sure but any direct looking into the sun is not good for your eyes. Even for a few seconds, idk your body so I guess I don't have much control. Maybe just wait to look when suns covered?

It's actually worse than looking at the sun, wouldn't recommend it and def not worth the permanent eye damage you will get. The danger comes from lots of light being reflected off of the moon but is not "blinding" so people will stare at it longer and even focus in on it with let's more light in thinking it isn't bright. When you glipsme at the sun it's blinding but when you glispse at a solar eclipse it isn't as blinding and may seem safer to look at. Fuck idk.

Makes sense. Fools your eyes into thinking it's able to look at it

My friend genuinely seems to think it's a scam to get people to buy the glasses. I said it's very very dangerous to look at it without them and he's like "oh no way dude it can't be that bad they just wanna sell a product." Or something like that, he's kinda arrogant.

Got the day off but I won't see much, gonna be kinda cloudy.

seriously don't do it. youre not going to see shit and it's just a stupid risk to take. make one of those pinhole things if you can't get some glasses

Yeah he's like that, I'll be honest he tells a lot of BS stories that are way exaggerated but then act like other people's stories are fake or bs'd.

He'll probably use sunglasses and in 8 years complain his eyes hurt.

Looking forward to the twilight light coming in about 30 mins (91% in pc) , then back to a normal day.

Just went to the max, biggest thing for me was the 15 degrees temperature drop, this is weird.

Temp drop was wild, so were the crescent shadows.

And with all the talk about looking at it without the eclipse glasses all I could think about was this:

Yeah didn't bother...not worth it...far far to bright to see it. Just looked like the sun basically. Coolest part was it went to a weird twilight outside.

People are making so much money off those glasses...but they are necessary sooooo....gotta love capitalism. I wonder how many people bought huge stocks of them to sell off for more money.

The ones I'm wearing work fine, you can't see it otherwise so might as well get a pair. Pretty cool so far, in NH it's leaving like 1/4 of the sun on the top.

People were selling glasses on the Park City Yard Sale page for like $5 two weeks ago and $20 for the last week. This lady here bought like 200, had them overnighted and sold them all last night and this morning for $15 a piece and we're only at 91% here, people are hilarious.

I woulda done this if I had thought ahead haha. Buy them for like a buck a piece 2 months ago and then sell them for 10 to 15 today? That's a hell of a profit

We got 12 pairs into the shop this week and sold out within a few hours. We were only selling them for $3 a piece, but I had someone come in this morning that said they were talking to people today that were asking $130.

Nope I kill hipsters for sport. I was working and it wasn't even close to a total eclipse here so meh. Was cloudy and rainy anyways as well

my manager told me to peel off for a second from the front desk and head up to the roof of the 10-floor hotel I work in. Tried to access the roof but the employees that were already up there forgot to pry the door open so I couldn't get on the roof :(

Shit was weird though seeing it look like there was cloud cover but it be absolutely clear skies. Can't imagine how dope it was on top of Hidden peak/east and west twins/Baldy/etc.

Not in totality, but still took some shots of the eclipse. This is my amateur attempt at being a photographer.

I was in the totality at scottsbluff we got a sick spot right in the middle of the monument! Definitely lived up to the hype and I'm already trying to figure out how to get to Mexico for the next one!
