they don't deserve racism, they deserve consequences. i know it's cliche but two wrongs dont make a right. a black person who is racist should be treated the same as a white person who is racist (if the situations are the same), but being racist back does not solve anything.
 
whoa big debate, but a little side story from me.

this summer i was at my local outdoor skatepark, and some group of black kids came along and took the very first thing they saw and started walkin away as if nothing had happend.

but just so happens that very first thing they saw was my bag (backpack) whatever you wanna call it. and i was sitting down having a drink staring directly at it at the time, so i saw it first hand. I then got up ran over to them and said, "give me my bag back, its not yours and you got no right to take it." i also stated that it has nothing they could possibly want with any form of value....so now one of the guys finally whips around and says "DONTCHU START ACCUSIN ME OF NOTHIN, and my "responce was i saw you take my bag im 100% positive now give it to me right now." then the next thing he says is "you rascist kid? dont accuse me of shit because of my colour, and i pretty much just said "whaat?!" and he kept rambling on actin like he was gunna hit me or something with about 9 of his other homies continuing to walk away....and then luckily a few of guys came from the park and helped me out, it kinda evened it out. Then they gave my bag back instantly without a question.

still tho the way he brought up racism was rediculous. and so true with the very very first original poster.

A very sizeable percentage of the American population (blacks and whites) lives at or below the poverty line, your assertation is that each and every one of those people is merely lazy? The US (and the world on the whole) lacks the resources for every citizen to be well off, it's simply not possible to avoid some discrepency between the rich and the poor. How can you possibly argue that those who are wealthy are not in many cases wealthy in large part due to various advantages inherent from birth, and that many of those who are poor lack the resources to do much about it? Look at yourself for example. Yes you were given the boot at age 18 and I have no doubt that you work hard for what you have, but I am also willing to bet that you grew up in a house with supportive parents who taught you various morals and values and that you had access to a decent education. Many of the people who you believe are merely lazy did not have those luxuries in their formative years so I find it very difficult to comprehend your insistence that those who are poor are poor purely as a result of their own actions.

Here is my two cents:

When a black person makes a comment about a person being white more often than not the black guy is just kidding or making a valid point. Black people do not have a history of discriminating and persecuting like us white people do. So when a black kid hears you make a racist comment it is more powerful than if a white kid made one because blacks were killed and beaten everyday and still are in many places. The fact is that (generaly) black people do not hate white people, and that whole "gangster" thing only represents a small group of blacks. Most black people, even in the urban areas, are just trying to work and feed their families.

Regarding the quote "Religion is the opium of the masses", when Karl Marx said that opium was one of the most widly used painkillers he ment that religion could be used to help you get through life more easly. Marx hisself was Jewish and his father was a Rabbi. That quote was distorted by the totalitarian, Stalinist communists to gain more control of the people.

One more point: Christians are NOT in any way being discriminated or persecuted. That claim is rediclous. Christians are the majority in the country BY FAR. If you want to say Christmas go right ahead so body is goign to stop you, they just may get offended but that is their problem. Cant you people see that these are just bullshit issus put out by the republicans to make it seem like the left is anti-reiligion and a bunch of bible-burning gays. Issues like gay-marriage and "moral values" are just ways to manipulate the christian right to become a political power.
 
you cant really blame people for being cautios about picking up hitch hikers in this age. if there was a more general feeling of trust in the world that would be different. there are too many bad people out there and life is too short. it sucks that black people are steriotyplically thought of as more dangerous, but this stigma seems to come through because in popular society we had usually (not always) seen black people as rappers and gangsters in films and such. it just sucks all around but i guess thats part of life.
 
the reason we have "projects" and shit is because of us the whites if we would of given the blacks a book and said here little black boy get smart there would be no ghettos but no we had to be ignorant asswhole and enslave them for no reason and they would of been smart and shit but its the same as the idians...we ruined there life so this is how we repay them and yes we give them scholarships and we let them go to some schools for free and everything but u are being pretty damn ignorant and are seeming a bit racist with ur coments as alot of the kids on these sites are saying because theres alot of posts that are exactly like urs...yea sometimes i ask myself why they can make jokes about us in standup or movies or the music but thats not even close to the things we brought apon them u inconsiterate asswhole
 
i can't let this thread die. there is too much good shit going on.

first off, there are things from bcshredder's argument that i agree with and i think a lot of people would agree with. for example, affirmative action is wrong. there was a post way back and the kid told about his dad being denied a promotion at boeing i think because he was white. the position went to a minority who while qualified, was LESS qualified than this kids dad. that is wrong. same thing happens with collegiate admissions today.

however, affiramtive action is based on the principle of equality. i firmly believe that a lot of minorities in this country still have it more difficult than a lot of white people including myself. affirmative action is trying to level the playing field for minorities. right now inner city blacks do not have access to the same level of education and the same programs that i and most of you did as children and young adults. affirmative action is trying to provide them with a boost to bring their opportunities to the same level. is this right? that is extremely questionable. i think its wrong.

here's what i think should be done. affirmative action should be based upon INCOME rather than race. basing it on race will only compound the problem in the long run. basing it on race says that the poor white family who lives beneath the poverty line in inner city america, is less important than the minority family in the same situation. thats bullshit. our goal as a nation and as human beings should be to help BOTH families as much as possible. what happens 50 years from now when there are as many middle and upper class minorities as whites? they either have to ammend or abandon affirmative action because otherwise it would then become an UNFAIR advantage for minorities. if they abandon it, there will be equal opportunities for middle and upper class whites and minorities. but you would still have people of all races living below the poverty line. ill say it again, affrmative action should be based on income not race.

as of the 2004 census, 12.7% of the USA's population was living below the pverty line. thats around 37 million people. i do not know what percentage of that 37 million are which race, but I would be willing to bet that most of them are minorities. affirmative action is trying to change that. however, we should be focusing on helping EVERYONE below the poverty line, rather than trying to equal the playing field just for minorities. achieving an ideal society where everyone is perfectly equal and has the same opportunities is frankly impossible. but what we as americans must do is help the citizens who need help regardless or race, religion, or any discriminating factor. well whatever. lets see what you guys come back to this with. im stoked on this thread
 
yeah where are you getting this christians have been persecuted bullshit, maybe on NS people mske fun of you for being a christian, but on NS people make fun of you for everything, because most of them hate you, this has no real refloection of the real world, where christians definitely arent persecuted, and yes a lot of black people dislike white people and are rascist, which is about the same with white people, and they both have good reason to be, your just bitching about being made fun of on newschoolers and your trying to relate to being a christian, and the only reason people are making fun of you for being a christian is because your a dumb bible thumper, and just like mormons everyone has the right to make fun of stupid bible thumping kids, because taking such a strict adherence to a stupid religion is just dumb in general, and this is my opinion because im jewish, and you dont see me making a thread about hating germans, so just stop bitching
 
wrong and wrong. christians in muslim nations risk their lives everyday in their ministry. converting muslims risk their lives in their new faith with fahtwas declared on their person. a member of our church is a new believer from a muslim family. she is now living in fear for her life, with many death threats from relatives every week.

christians in asia risk their lived in handing out bibles, and are forced to meet in caves or secret meeting places at the risk of being incarcerated.

bible bashing is rampant. christian bashing is rampant. the moment you state a christian point of view you are somehow discredited of an opinion in most open forums. being a christian is not "cool" and frowned upon by most people nowadays, and trust me ive had my fair share of insults and mockery in the "real world" about my faith.

verbal and physical persecution is rampant against christians. sorry to break it to you. the real world isn't nicer than newschoolers

oh sure,our persecution is not like the gay community's, NO! the insults against them are far worse, im sure. but hey, it's cool to not be allowed an opinion.

yeah. people die every day for being christian. just maybe not in the US or Canada.
