Toronto teen shot 9 times then tasered by cops

No, that is not the reason. "Welp, a lifetime of therapy is gonna cost too much, better finish him off"

just heard about this on the news, crazy.

he is being charged though, which isnt all that surprizing considering the media and public outcry.

whether he is found guilty is another story....

all news outlets say more details to follow. this is going to be interesting.

I'm intrigued... The hypotheticals are plenty but, I really hope this is based on fact and not knee-jerk reactionary... The best way to delegitimize the fact that some sort of policy/training change is needed is to charge for the sake of proving a point..

well I certainly wasn't expecting that. it'll be interesting to see in which direction the trial goes and whether he actually gets convicted.

good point.

I'm going to be following this even closer now.

and @the.hellion, I also hope this is fact based and not just to sate the public's reaction. However, Since 2008, the SIU was conducted 44 death investigations involving on-duty Toronto police officers. out of those 44, only 1 had been criminally charged. So that's at least somewhat encouraging, seems like they would sooner NOT charge, then charge just for the sake of it.

they HAD to charge him.

with the shitshow aftermath after the shooting, they had to.

being charged with something doesnt mean shit though.

inb4 zimmerman canuck styles eh.

being charged and acquitted of a murder charge will still haunt you for life these days. every time he goes through a border crossing or other security point that information will come up and will work against him 100% of the time.

my brother got acquitted of a far lesser crime during the Quebec City G7 event a while ago. (he even had a media pass and was still arrested). a year or two after being acquitted he was travelling through the US and got detained at the border because this came up on the computer. how US officials even got the information is worrying enough, but the fact that they held him because of a summary conviction he was entirely acquitted of is pretty rough.

if he gets relieved of his job, good luck getting another with a murder charge.

No...they didn't. But after your novel length dissertations about how the cop was justified having no intimate knowledge of the incident, I am enjoying this a great deal.

ya, they did.

oh, you mean the same unknowledgable dissertations you had which labelled him as a murderer right out of the gate?

get bent bud.

its a charge, not a guilty verdict.

Interesting....that was my first post in this thread.

You, on the other hand, have posted 23 or 24 times, mostly with multiple paragraph rants chock full of presumptive bullshit. Instead of being humble and saying, "hmm...maybe the people conducting the investigation with access to all of the information and an intimate understanding of the law know better than I do! I got a little carried away!", you immediately jump to some vague half-baked PR dilemma/conspiracy nonsense.

But, please, write another term paper justifying yourself with make believe!

People usually dont do things like this out of lack of intelligence or flawed morals, its mental illness.

But like seward said the cops didnt really do anything wrong
