Companies don't like their products marked down to near cost. Image is everything. The only way to keep retail prices up, is by keeping the 'actual' cost up. Once the brand looses its image (often related with cost, fuck quality), the company can no longer sell their products to retailers at the same cost amount. Shortun Mauii you're right (they sell more)... long term, it isn't in their best interest having retailers selling their skis dirt cheap.
I absolutely agree with you 360spins, and you're right that other retailers are likely the ones bringing up the most fuss. Since say Dynastar can go about the matter directly with the particular shop(s).
