Toronto Ski Show

I've never been but I might head down to try and get some new boots / bindings. Do the shops tend to have decent deals at the show? I've heard mixed reviews.

I had fun last year, and i got a few crazy deals. It's hit and miss; some companies try pushing gear at full price, some companies put out their previous years stock at like 75% off.

Don't buy boots at the show. There will be tons of people and the deals won't be that good. To get a good fit you need time and undivided attention when buying a boot.

As for bindings, Corbetts usually has some good deals on bindings at the ski show. The ski show is a great place to buy last years gear.

dont bother unless you are into scoping out swaps for steals lol. its mostly a "travel show" with local shops taking up the rest...meh

Anyone have details on the rail jam? I doubt i'll end up going to any of it, at this point on not back from reading week till sunday and I really dont want to go train to Mississauga...

That's a good point about the boots. Maybe I'll just try to scope out a shop where I can go next week instead.

Fuck Corbetts

Anyways the show is alright. Its the same deals you will find in shops right now, all last years outerwear will be 50% off and all last years hard goods will be 40% probably. Bindings are really the only thing that dont go on sale because they dont really change year to year.

Dont buy boots there though. As someone who has worked the show before, everyone is just there to move product. They will not give you the attention that you need to get a proper boot.

Corbetts is that bad, it's the lesser of the evils when it comes to shops at the ski show. A few years a go they were selling p14 for below cost.

But it is really better to just go to shop the week before the sale or after the sale.

I was employed in the past by a competing shop.

My beef with corbetts is based on the shop they set up in Barrie. They came into town with only old product just to get rid of. They had no mounting or tuning facilities, so in turn we got dozens of gapers brining old gear to be mounted. Thats fine I guess but is pretty fucking wack customer service, just outsourcing your dirty work essentially. What really pissed me off though was the amount of people that came in with skis and boots that were CLEARLY fucking wrong for them. I remember having a small women come in with 173 mens carving skis saying that corbetts sold them to her and said they would be perfect.

Frustrating when a shop just clearly isnt committed to making the sport as enjoyable as it should be for their customers just to make an extra buck.

Is the rail jam every day, anyone know exactly when pro finals are? Turns out I have a media pass so I may be coming after all.
