Second run of the season and I tore my ACL. Didn't pay the $20 for pass insurance either..Cheer me up?

Fuck man! Go pull some pity ass. Get that surgery scheduled and you'll be rehabbing soon and be back to new before you know it.

+++vibes man, real sorry to hear. i know how you feel i broke my leg last season on my third day. needed surgery and hardware.

One year that happened to me (no pass insurance) and I wrote a long sob story letter about how I needed the money because I couldn't work due to injury... not a total lie but embellished a bit, and the hill was nice enough to refund the pass. You should give it a go at least, can't hurt (no pun intended).

Very sorry to hear that man, it's awful to hear about someone being injured and having to wait a while before they can ski again after they just finished waiting for the pas 6-7 months.

Crawley is right, schedule the surgery, start rehabbing immediately afterwords and channel all of that frustration of not being able to ski towards making that knee bulletproof. Best of luck, hope you heal up fast!

That is so very sad, I'm sorry for you :(. All add you to my prayer list for a swift strong recovery, but I don't know if that cheers you up much. Hang in there.

that sucks man, heres some cute puppies

Vibes to ya homie. Im recovering from acl reconstruction now. I'm 6 months out and hit my first rail again yesterday. Work hard in pt, listen to your doctor and you'll be back in no time!

This thread actually petrifies me.. Sorry to hear about your injury dude, that sucks so bad :(

For the past few weeks I've been going on long ass bike rides, doing squats and other knee strengthening exercises, is there anything else I can do to decrease the risk of injury?

Haha I totally did this when I blew my mcl and broke my leg, worked like a charm.

+vibes dude hope you heal up in record time

last year i moved to canada from france so i could ski whistler and tore my acl december 10. was pretty hard.

but you ll get over it.

do s :

schedule the surgery with a surgeon who knows about sports and understand the kind of stress you re going to put on your knees when they re fixed., start physio, and most important, find a hobby to kill time, picture yourself back skiing. man up and fight for your abilty to ski. before you have a heavy injury like that you pretty much take skiing for granted. it s not.

dont :

take percocet / smoke too much weed while you re still depressed from the injury. it really doesnt help.

dont get lazy, dont whine, dont stop talking to your skier friends.

really it s all about being able to focus your energy on the physio and a hobby. from what i ve seen, if you can afford it, photography/ videography works well with skiers.

it s going to be long and hard, but you will do it and you ll be back in shape.

i havent skied since december 10 but i can tell you that i cant fucking wait, and that my knee is strong as fuck. a lot of people go through that. you re not alone. dont hesitate to ask a lot of advice, especially to your surgeon/ physio.

wow, for some reason I'm more moved by this than if someones relative died. I can't imagine how that must feel. I'd try to sell the pass, and puck up a hobby/job to replace time speny skiing

i didnt do something this bad. but i broke my arm in 4 places a week before i went to windells. bone came out of my skin. the worst thing to do is to rush your recovery. rehab it up man. vibes

I would not advise skiing much park with no ACL, but I skied for 6 months last year without one.

I would suggest talking to an orthopedic surgeon, getting a brace,

skiing pow days until April, getting surgery at the beginning of April,

biking a lot during the summer and fall, and you're ready to go next

October without missing an entire season.

This is what I did last season and I didn't do any more damage to my

knee. It just sucks having to be a little more careful when you ski.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do though. And don't be too

worried about surgery. I didn't know what to expect going into it, but

it was not bad at all. I experienced no pain at all really. The worst

part is sleeping with a leg immobilizer.

ah that the worst man, ask henrick if you get the chance how he rehabed his! and ull be back hopfully for some spring skiing

hahaha yes so true.

also i took the plane paris - vancouver 10 days after my surgery that was not fun at all.

VIBES man. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since i broke my ankle. Feeling pretty bummed but i actually got off pretty easy. keep positive and let it heal well so you can go hard when your back!

That is terrible... Like, that really really sucks. I cant really say much. Maybe try and find a small hobby other than video games and masturbation.

This!

Tip #1 - get a bucket, put it upside down in front of the toilet to rest your leg.

Tip #2 - keep an apple juice container next to your bed. I did this and my girlfriend hated it and refused to sleep with me but its whole lot easier than getting up to take a piss.

Tip #3 - find something productive to do. I don't mean watching movies...that'll get boring really quickly. Build a big fuckoff model plane or something. That way you wont get depressed sitting on the couch for 6 or 8 weeks.

Tip #4 - Get moving asap. Not stressful, but just get your movement back as soon as you can (once you're allowed to get out of the brace of course.

super shitty man. i just had my acl sugery 3 months ago so i know how your feeling and how you are going to feel. after you get the surgery just work super hard on your physio right away and you will feel great in no time. I still have another 3 months till i can ski but i can at least run, jump and do fun shit again because i worked on my knee every chance i got and did what my therapist told me. just film for your friends this year. hike up the hill and get shots for them. This is what I will be doing until feb when i can ski.

1. find a SPORTS doctor

2. choose either hamstring tendon, patellar tendon, or cadaver graft

3. schedule surgery

4. PRE-SURGERY REHAB

5. never miss your post-surgery rehab

6. definitely get the machine that moves your knee for you, it is worth the money. i finished rehab 2 months early compared to my friend who didn't have the machine. i was over 90 degrees when he was still at like 60. and yes, i know it varies between people... but get the machine.
