last year i moved to canada from france so i could ski whistler and tore my acl december 10. was pretty hard.
but you ll get over it.
do s :
schedule the surgery with a surgeon who knows about sports and understand the kind of stress you re going to put on your knees when they re fixed., start physio, and most important, find a hobby to kill time, picture yourself back skiing. man up and fight for your abilty to ski. before you have a heavy injury like that you pretty much take skiing for granted. it s not.
dont :
take percocet / smoke too much weed while you re still depressed from the injury. it really doesnt help.
dont get lazy, dont whine, dont stop talking to your skier friends.
really it s all about being able to focus your energy on the physio and a hobby. from what i ve seen, if you can afford it, photography/ videography works well with skiers.
it s going to be long and hard, but you will do it and you ll be back in shape.
i havent skied since december 10 but i can tell you that i cant fucking wait, and that my knee is strong as fuck. a lot of people go through that. you re not alone. dont hesitate to ask a lot of advice, especially to your surgeon/ physio.
