Top sheet and edges chipping/scratching

Anyone else chip their top sheets and scratch their edges from landing with skis too close, practically on top of one another (but still parallel)?

It’s not a quality issue, it’s just the edges digging into the top sheet or into the other ski’s edges.

I guess it’s been a bad habit that I picked up trying to ski with skis practically touching at all times on takeoff and landing.

My real question is should this be concerning since I might be destroying my skis or is topsheet chipping not a big deal for the overall durability of the skis.

And no I’m not hitting rails, only jumps.

I mean honestly It comes down to two things

Would you rather look like a skie racer tool loser with your skies 1.3 feet apart for that "maximum turn" or Would you rather look like a fucking park style god and have your skis so close together people from afar think you're snowboarding? I think the answer is obvious, OP.

You shouldn't give too much of a fuck about the topsheet either if you're using them for park and such. Topsheet don't matter unless you have a chip that goes to the core which is hard to do unless you have lines

I have lines and the entire top sheet down to the core is Peeling off

Can’t ever get caught lacking, looking like a tool in the park W. Guess imma fuck my edges and topsheet till it explodes in exchange for steeze

That's the right attitude man! Steeze is life.

Yeah my Chronics chip super badly to the core. Don’t have that issue with other skis

Sand/file where your topsheet meets the sidewall when your first get them to reduce the jagged edge. Also, it could be a fact of your edges underfoot being too sharp. Do with that last bit of info what you will but duller edges out front will cause less chips (but less control too). I had some armadas that were basically tubes underfoot and they never chipped

Happened really bad with my reckoners but I just took epoxy and covered the exposed area with a thin layer over it. Doesn't help a ton but definitely stops it from chipping deeper.

Hey what kind of epoxy did you use? I was looking for some today but cant seem to find one that is ideal for plastics, cold temps, waterproof, and won't yellow from the sun overtime.

Most people suggest JB Weld or West Systems G Flex. I’ve got some G Flex myself. I can’t remember how they look in Home Depot, etc. but at Clas Ohlsen in Finland they would show temp max and minimum and pressure/strength rating which I found super helpful. I imagine our hardware stores do the same.

But basically you’re looking for marine epoxy
