Top Gear is freakin' awesome. Dope cars, quality filming/production, and hilarious antics from middle aged British guys. What's not to love?

But seriously, it's my favorite show. Best episode is tied with the Vietnam special and the South America special. My buddy and I are likely going to re-create the Vietnam special after college, as part of a backpacking trip.
 
oh please no. you guys constantly copy our tv but put some american douches in it an ruin the format. at least when we steal your tv we do it outright we don't try to make english versions of them.
 
i would agree that it will not be in anyway shape or form as funny or developed as og top gear with jeremy james and richard but i think 2/3 hosts for american top gear look decent from the article.
 
yea to be honest i hadn't looked at the presenters, but they seem to match Top Gears rival program Fifth Gear more closely, younger, better drivers, probably more enthusiastic. but that said Fifth and Top are two different programs altogether, rivals nonetheless, but offering a different sort of motoring show.
 
^ true statement, its the same with my country (australia). we decided to steal top gear and reinvent it as an australian version, got the same type of hosts and....it failed dismally....

i get the feeling theyll try and copy top gear as closely as possible and because you're always comparing it to the original show it never feels quite as good, thus losing ratings and failing.
 
i love it. haven't been able to watch it for a few series now though. can't seem to find them consistently online.
 
Tanner Foust is an amazing driver, but a terrible tv host. The guy in the middle looks gay, and the other guy looks like a redneck that moved to hollywood.
 
I am so stoked to be in England for the summer. There's a channel which has Top Gear re-runs on literally half the time... and the other half its Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Qi... fuck i miss British TV.
 
I hate to quote you twice in a row but QI is literally the greatest thing that has ever happened to my computer. So good.
 
Bring on the hate, but Top Gear started to get shitty around the 12th season. 13th season was completely scripted, that trip across South America was absolute cock-down-your-throat television. Sure, previous seasons weren't completely improv, but at least they were slightly believable.
 
true that, best time for top gear was season 6-10. Funny challenges, good reviews, all around fun to watch
 
Yeah, the producers are having a lot of trouble keeping it fresh. Some of the stuff they tried (Top Gear Live, Romania in my opinion, and the 17 year old thing) worked pretty well, but a lot of it (that fucking Avantime) really didn't. What's promising is that Wilman can see that it's shit and is at least trying to do something, rather than just plugging on endlessly with the same old crap. Would I like to see a cast shakeup, House style? No, not unless it involved Olivia Wilde. Would I like to see the format change to something a little less structured? Probably.

 
Dave, it's a good channel. but however much i love top gear, once you've seen every episode three times it does start to bore a little.

Top Gear forever I hope they make a million seasons. There is no one in the world I would rather see on tv than Jeremy Clarkson.
Honestly I am going to be so so very upset when Top Gear is no more. There will never be a better car show, ever. I must say though I have not seen season 14 but I'm sure its incredible like everything else they have ever done.
 
We have that channel in America its called BBC America. They play so much Top Gear its great.
I do love British tv though we could never have a show like "Badly Dubbed Porn" in America. (BTW badly dubbed porn is literally cheesy skinamax style softcore porn with comedians dubbing the different voices).
 
Jeremy Clarkson is my favorite celebrity period because he does/says what the fuck he wants. I loved when he compared driving some new super car as "like smearing honey all over kiera knightly's naked body". He's also been on Top Gear since the 70's.
Ever seen "Jeremy Clarkson Meets the Neighbors"? Its him driving around mainland Europe in a jag basically making fun of all the other countries for not being as good as Britain. So great.
 
it's on BBC America all the time. New ones are monday nights and they show reruns on tuesday and wednesday night. they also usually play a couple on saturday too.

It's pretty close between May and Clarkson, James has that really dry clever humor, while Clarkson has no reserve, Hammond gets shit on by both of them
 
Top gear is one of my favorite shows. The american version will not be as good simply because it won't be British. But that's just my opinion and we will see of it's good or not when it comes out.
 
I didn't know they made an american version.

Only watched the british version from when it came out for a couple years, then it vanished.Thought the show was done. Very good show though

Still going strong. In line for a 17th season i think.

You should google some of the best episodes like the America,Thailand, Bolivia and Africa specials.
 
haha im in the uk for a few months and ive watched soo much top gear, its ausome cuase ive seen like none of them so i like reruns!
 
definitely not. i'm a fan of both and i think the American version improved on the BBC version in so many ways.

however, i don't think top gear will go the same route.
