Top Gear America on the History Channel

To each his own, but the few first US episodes that tried to mimic Gervais' uncomfortable brilliance were just awful, awful, awful. I sat in agony watching that stuff, thinking: "Why, why on Earth do they have to try and ONE UP everything?!" After that the show took on a completely different direction and shouldn't even be called The Office. Really.

In this case I'm a puritan, as The Office solidifies everything that is great about humor and British series. The main thing that pretty much everyone understands in the industry over there what quality over quantity means. All the best series have usually a maximum 6-9 episodes per season, opposed to the whopping 20something that many US shows have.

Like The Office, there were only two seasons and a few specials, because they KNEW they didn't want to beat their prize-winning steed to the ground with a rusty shovel after a glorious grand prix victory. Of course, it's again a matter of opinion, but the US version just tries too much, it's like a watching a circus show of catchphrases and "Ooooh, what will Dwight do this episode, dress like an office ninja and then everyone will think he is a clown and play pranks on him teehee and Michael will do something HILARIOUS as well maybe teehee?"

I'd watch it if I were home in the US, just to give it a try. I doubt I'd enjoy it as much or even more than the british version, but I'd still give it a try. I just hope it doesn't turn into some redneck production featuring some muscle car every week that can do a fast 1/4 mile, but can't turn.

oh my god i got wet just from reading the letters cts-v.

also the british office fucking sucked. im sorry im not intelligent or socially evolved enough to find it funny, but i tried a bunch of episodes with my brother, each time hoping "maybe this episode ill get it and it will be funny" but i never got it and it was never funny. just fucking terrible. i know how good of a comedian ricky gervais is, but i didnt see any comedy. each episode was like an hour of trying to fuck a wooden tube filled with sand. dry and painful.

Like I said, to each his own. Trying to preach about one's own humoristic preferences isn't going to make things any better, so I digress.

i'm going to prepare for disappointment. i don't see how it could be better than the original. the normal one is easily one of my favorite shows.
