I was just on the IF3 live chat thing and it started playing the song from that movie.

I forgot how fucking awesome it is. I need to watch it again soon

What the hell! Top Gun is seriously the pinnacle of plot development and cinemetography. It is unacceptable to NOT be totally infatuated with Cruise's golden years.

GONNA TAKE IT RIIIIIIGHT INTOOOOOO THE DANGER ZONE

you know how you always have your movies when your a kid...yea well thats my movie...literally watched 3 times a weak for at least three years...inspired me to be a pilot..to bad Cruise is a fag these days..

Top Gun is good, but it's aging. Hell, the Navy hasn't even flown f-14s for a few years now. The only country with those is strangely enough, Iran, and theirs probably aren't flightworthy anymore.

Have any of you seen the French film les Chevaliers Du Ciel? In my opinion it was a much better movie, and some of the filming was absolutely amazing, like when they fly around the alps. And this was filmed air to air, unlike Top gun where most of the filming was done from the ground of aircraft flying past.

your just like obviously so jealous you cant maneuver a fighter plane like tommy can, your jealous!!!! GOOOOOOSSSEEEEEEEEEE

such a good movie, i hadnt seen it in like 3 years and since this thread has been made i have watched it like 4 times. I loved tha movie when i was younger

Uhh I'm pretty sure a good portion of top gun was filmed air to air. I do know that one of the stunt / filmer pilots died during the making of the movie. But yeah I bet that french movie has waay better footage, can't beat the scenery of the alps.

true that some of top guns stuff was filmed air to air, but there wasn't much of it, and its painfully obvious how many times they reuse the same footage, such as when in the dogfight at the end. The enemies fly right through the f-14 formation, and then you see them fly through at least once more. Still a good movie, and they did a good job with what they had.

In the real Naval aviation community, saying Top Gun is your favorite movie is something like going on NS and posting a "Johnny Moseley is my favorite skier" thread.

Seeing as there's no other SNAs on here to my knowledge...yeah, i kinda like Top Gun once in a while. But please, for my sake, don't tell anyone.

i finally found a clip to show what the filming is like in the french film, but i suck at embedding so...

I think it shows perfectly how awesome flying a fighter would be. And thanks to this thread i've had to rewatch Top Gun just to remember how much better that looks than anything i'll ever do

another good flying movie The Battle Of Britain. its about wwII fighter pilots and its pretty damn good.

My brother is a SNA in the US Navy stationed in Kingsville Texas. He is the pipeline to be flying F18 Superhornets...thats a 70 million dollar jet.

Him and his roommates (who are also SNA's) watch Top Gun more then you can even imagine. So i think your data on the mig is inaccurate.

So ya...someone post that teaser again! Top Gun = BADASS!

he was fucking hilarious and everyone else i know who saw the movie thought he was also, he still didn't redeem himself though, he just brought himself closer to zero from the negatives
