What are your top 5 ski companies based on ski performance, ski graphics and company itself?

1) Armada

2) Moment

3) Obsidian

4) Liberty

5) BlueHouse
 
yeah I see what you mean relative to the other companies on the list but I still consider them small in terms of the big corps out there and the background of the company itself...plus, sick skis
 
Salomon? I heard their skis are really durable...

i've heard these are all real good, and i hear folsom is making a skiercross ski, which is of great interest to me
 
You do realize that Quicksilver owns Lib-tech right? I wouldn't call a company who's snowboards are in just about every shop "small".

I still feel that Armada is a small brand considering that they function out of a dingy warehouse in Newport with a small, hardworking tight-nit group of guys and gals making quality products (I realize their skis aren't made in Newpt, but still) rather than a brand like Salomon or Rossignol. They compete nicely with the big brands but still are small in comparison. If they aren't on the list of small brands anymore, then take them out and add ON3P.
 
How many of these small ski companies actually make their own skis?

I know ON3P, Moment, PM Gear and DPS do.

I know Armada doesn't.

What about the rest?
 
I had the same thought. I don't count people who re-brand or just send off a design to a factory. A real small ski company designs, and presses their shit in-house.
 
Quicksilver/mervin is a pretty decent sized player in the snowsports industry, their main focus is snowboarding obviously. Coke also bottles orange juice. That doesn't make them a small orange juice company.
 
hmm that's a good point. I thought k2 just uses the armada name for a specific run of snowboard boots but I may be wrong. anyone know?
