Top 5 Bands

i could get wayyyyyyy douchier, that wasnt shit. as a musician myself, its just hard to listen to songs that are not that difficult or fun to play and create, and that often use similar chord progressions to past songs. the grateful dead puts folk, the free-form element started by jazz, rock, psychadelic, country (not the gay kind), and a ton of other shit all into one bundle of musical ecstasy. their songs have movement, they can continue for a long time and not get boring, which is far more epic than some dumb shit the killers put together to make a 3 minute song. if you listen to phish, ya their lyrics suck but the vibe that they all can come together and create is something your average pop artist can not and does not do.
grrrrrrrrrrr dont fuck with me i will rip you a new e-asshole.

lol yes they go into the popular category dont kid yourself. ya u are entitled to your own opinion as am i, which entitles me to have my own opinion that yours is fucking terrible. that's great that you have good musical experiences with those bands but i was saying that qualitywise it's really not that hard to put together. dave and the beatles are freakin epic, and mgmt is kinda weird but cool. but the rest of your shit is straight retarded im sorry.

pop = popular music. eg. the beatles; the killers.

it's okay to listen to popular music.

yay!

DB is playing RR over memorial. Should be fun, especially with the Desert Rocks fest going on in Moab.

Jam band music makes the world go 'round, whoever is saying that the Dead has had no impact on hardcore, or any other genre has got a closed one track mind. I have been to many different shows of different genres, and Jam, specifically the Dead is the best feeling you can experience. The passion of the fan base alone is incredible, it is good people just wanting to see their favorite band in the world. There really is nothing like a Grateful Dead show. I suggest trying to catch as many Furthur shows as you can if your on the east, they will take you for the ride of your life. Phish is out and about two, 3 nights at the Greek!

Grateful Dead and every incarceration including JGB, the Grisman stuff, and all the post Jerry.

Yonder

SCI

Phish

Bobby Dylan

I could go on forever.

Lol, coming from I only listen to hardcore and everything else sucks. It really is pretty bland and generic. Listen to the mainstream rock stations, all kind of blurs together for some bands.

Like I said nice enough people, but not great music. go listen to your 5 favorite hardcore bands and keep hating every other kind of music

lol

The further shows have been killing it. Had a lot of fun catching part of the dead tour last summer. Pumped for further at some of the fests this summer. The phish tour is looking pretty sick, loving all the two night runs everywhere. It's gonna be another epic summer.

If you haven't seen Furthur yet you are in for a treat! Warren is cool, but JBG really brought me to tears, quite a few times during the 2nd set, 2nd night in CO. The Dead was fun, but Furthur is where it's at.

I have everything from God Is An Astronaut to The Magnetic Zeroes to Capleton on my iTunes. Those are just the bands that I like most. The only real reason I'm defending Three Days Grace is because they're from Norland..which is like 5 minutes from my house, and I've actually met them.

As have I. That's why I said they're nice enough guys. But i still defend their music being bland and generic like a lot of "rock music" these days.

Yeah, it really has nothing to differentiate it from the rest of shit. Lyrics are bland and emoish too.
Only song I ever liked by them was Time of Dying because I saw it in a Brian Cushing training video..and I want to be like Brian Cushing. So I play it every time I work out. Gets me pumped for some reason.

BtBaM is fucking dirty. I'm not so big a fan of their newest album... Obfuscation is great, Fossil Genera and D,I,M are both OK, but Colors, Silent Circus, and Alaska... fuck me sideways. Killer albums.

no particular order

good to see between the buried and me getting some mentions
such a high level of musicianship by every member of the band

Futhur is great, I don't know if you go to the Archive but most of their shows are on there plus old Grateful Dead shows off the Sound Board. The archive is a great place to check out all your jam band needs.

1. Zeppelin

After that, I have a mix of a ton of different stuff, and it is pretty tough for me to pick 2-5 out of it.

Archive is the shit, I listen to it all day everyday. It will keep you busy forever. Check out bt.etree.org as well, tons of shows to download from everyone.

Any body have the Portland Furthur show they can send me? I want to hear it.
