Just curious. I could use a few ideas for car music.

Mine:

5. Justice - †

4. Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium

3. Of Montreal - Satanic Panic in the Attic

2. Sigur Ros - ( )

1. The Arcade Fire - Funeral

I don't really feel Mars Volta for that list...Of course it's subjective though. Good other picks. That isn't my favorite Sigur Ros album though. I like Von. Maybe Takk.

I'd also nominate Castaways and Cutouts.

well for new car music you should check out....

- logh

- jesu

- max richter

- octavious

- fucked up (their albums are definatly in my top 5)

- mare

wilco:Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

Arctic Monkeys: What ever people say i am thats what im not

Bob Dylan: Modern Times

The Dirtbombs: Ultraglide in black ('01 but its realllly good)

Lucero: Rebels Rogues and Sworn Brothers

Ryan Adams: Gold (also '01 i know im a cheater)

I can't decide on an exact list, but some of my favorites have been "Is this It" and "First Impressions of the Earth" by the Strokes, "Stadium Arcadium" by RHCP, and "Snakes and Arrows" by Rush, and "Wolfmother" by Wolfmother

JD, are you going to the Justice gig at the commodore? Tickets were sold out when I tried, should be an insane show though.

I've been listening to that album so much that I would include it in my list, but here it is:

People under the stairs-Stepfather

Daft Punk-Human after all

Muse-Absolution

RJD2-Since we last spoke

Digitalism-Idealism

yankee hotel fox trot and modern times were the first two to come to mind. other than that... I don't really buy new music very often.

Jay Dilla- Ruff Draft

Wolfmother- wolfmother

Ratatat- Ratatat

Ratatat- Classics

Ratatat-remixes vol.2

Queens of the Stone Age - Song for the Deaf

Talib Kweli - Quality

RJD2 - Deadringer

I didn't think about this too hard, just some to consider

Legit list

No I'm not, I don't have money for concerts, it's something I've cut out of my budget, unless I'm doing it as a date. But I really wish I could go, Justice is better than Daft Punk. Did I just say that? Yes I just said that.

typical cats-typical cats

blue scholars-bayani

la symphony-composition #1

dj muggs vs. GZA-grandmasters remix

GZA-liquid swords

yep, theres not to much new music that thrills me were im super stoked for it to be released. Actually the bright eyes album was decent

taking back sunday-tell all your friends

funeral for a friend-casually dressed and deep in conversation

thursday-full collapse

jayz-the black album

immortal tecnhique-revolutionary vol. 2

liquid swords is 12 years old, not in the last 5 years.

Donuts-J Dilla

Exodus Into Unheard rhymes-Oh No

Todays Good News Vol.1-Rev. Shines

there's so many others, but this would be it as of right now i guess

My top 5 in no order:

Justice- Cross

Death from Above 1979- You're A Women I'm a Machine

Daft Punk- Human Afterall

Death from Above 1979- Heads Up!

MSTRKRFT- The Looks

i like the fact that there are some people on here that dont just listen to rap

Midlake - The Trials of Van Occupanther

Sunset Rubdown - Shut Up I Am Dreaming

The American Analog Set - Set Free

Mum - Finally We Are No One

Okkervil River - Black Sheep Boy

Takk... is my favourite Sigur Ros. Get it!

Also, Arctic Monkeys? I don't want to seem like a music snob, but come on!

I find them to be kind of like 70's and/or 90's brit-rock repackaged for a new audience. Copycats!

hhahahha isnt all of todays music just recylced anyway? id much rather have a band be copying from the 70's-80's genre wich in my opinion much better than any other decade(s) of music.

some really good lists.

i dunno if all of these came out within the past 5...but i heard them within 5 years so it counts.

RJD2 - deadringer (got me into hiphop)

Jay-Z - the black album (fucking good, even most of the remixes like the black chronic(2001) (jayz- vs. dr dre)

Grouch & Eligh - No More Greener Grass

System of a Down - Hypnotize/Mezmerize

Wolfmother - Wolfmother

if i smoked weed these would be on the top. this music makes me want to smoke a blunt and just close my eyes and listen:

Zero 7 - The Garden or Simple Things

Air - The Virgin Suicides

TvOTR -Desperate youth, blood thirsty babes

DFA 1979 -your a woman I'm a machine

Cadence weapon -Breaking Kayfabe

Final Fantasy -He poos clouds

Mute Math (self titled)

(Sorry, I needed one more)Micheal Franti -Yell Fire

wolfmother-wolfmother

we were dead before the ship even sank-modest mouse

grand national-john butler trio

by the way-red hot chili peppers

the central park concert(live)-dave matthews band

those are just ones i could think of off hand, it's hard to just pick 5, and then i have to make sure they're within the last 5 years. so it's tough.

Postal Service - Give up

Radiohead - Hail to the Theif

The Shins - Wincing the Night Away

Secret Machines - Ten Silver Drops

The Mars Volta - Deloused in the Comatorium

I'm not real good a making lists like these about music, but I would have to have Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise somewhere on the list.

This is tough. But, without sticking to one genre (I'd have too much rap/hip-hop on the list), here's mine.

Chromeo - Fancy Footwork

Immortal Technique - Revolutionary Vol. 2

RJD2 - Since We Last Spoke

Bloc Party - Silent Alarm

Mattafix - Signs of a Struggle

Glad you guys like the Justice joint. I'm hitting up the concert here in Toronto. I saw Daft Punk earlier this summer, it was ridiculous. I think Justice are better DJs, well, the one guy is but nothing will be able to top the Daft Punk concert. Pics of the show in my profile.

No order!

Girl Talk - Night Ripper

The National - Boxer

Wilco - Yankee, Hotel, Foxtrot

Ghostface Killah - Fishscale

Modest Mouse - Good News for People who Like Bad News

Ugh, there are a lot of other good albums too!

Justice - +

Jay Z - The Black Album

Kanye West - The College Dropout

Oh, and if I have to recommend one in particular for everyone to listen to... go get Yankee, Hotel, Foxtrot. It's on here a bunch and an amazing album.
