Top 3 Rappers

I'm not feeling this "still alive" bullshit.

Top 3 (in order):

1) Meth.

This man spits serious game. There are only a handfull of songs that he's made / been in that aren't legit. His flow and change of in the middle of verses is what places him up top.

2) Biggie.

Need I explain?

3) Em

Hate away. Even though he isn't my "favorite" he's still one of the best rappers (imo) out there. Most of his songs are silly goose and make absolutely no sense, but when he spits he spits hard.

No shit he's alive. You really ought to get your e-sarcasm meter checked.

And how can UGK be "sick as ever" when 1/2 of the group is dead? I loved the new album this year but the days of the Underground Kingz is over. :[

with the exception of kepler, 90 percent of you have no idea what you're talking about.

statik selektah? he's a fucking producer..

the kid that said that lil wayne "puts out mixtapes daily or he'd be nothing", wayne doesn't put out those mixtapes, the DJ's of the mixtapes do.. white owl, leak jones, mick boogie, etc.

honestly i hate these threads...
You cannot prove anything and i know im going to post my pick for a few top artist and about 95% of the people will disagree with me and they all have their own as well. there are definitly certain groups of hip hop and typically people tend to lean to one or another.
As for myself i would say this group of mine is easily #1 but then again no one else will so why argue, anyways here is a pretty strong list of my top artists and groups.
- Atmosphere (headshots), aesop, De La Soul, People Under The Stairs, Hieroglyphics/Souls of Mischief, Nas, Biggie, 9th wonder w/ others, Murs, Wu Tang, Lone Catalyst, Pharcyde.
Thats just a few that i can think of and i know that is over 3 but honestly anything in the genre i may agree with you. If you do not agree with this group then thats fine and im ok with your view on hip hop and as long as it makes you happy

best hip hot artist of 2009:

Who's to say what's real hip-hop? I mean I love circa 1994 Tribe and Nas hip-hop, but I also love the Wale and Kid Cudi hip-hop that we have today.

Lil' Wayne brought the mixtape to mainstream. And the mixtape is vital to a lot of artists these days.

What I meant was mainstream auto-tuned bullshit. I guess there is is no "real" hip hop. Just different styles.

I think it's just when poeple get popular they get more and more fans. And even more haters.

I don't even like Lil Wyane, but I repect him for an artist.

I love your icon. And you've got at least one respectable choice up there. Everything's arguable though.

Lil wayne is garbage. As for me... Mos Def, Common, GAngstar. Also lately ive been listening to curt@!n$. good shit right there

Lil wayne is sick. In the words of Jay-Z "ill let the mixtape weezy get on this" or something like that in the song DOA. Meaning, the mainstream shit weezy makes is fucking terrible, his hard shit on mixtapes is some good ass shit.

My top 3.

Jadakiss- Best alive no question. No one goes harder, no one is more real. And he just goes to hard no one can compare.
Cassidy- Best battle rapper of all time. No one can beat him. His shit goes hard, with crazy metaphors. Ex. Apply Pressure Mixtape

Slim Thug- I love his flow, and have been known to sip lean, so something about his shit has a special appeal to me. Boss of All Bosses was on of the only albums i listened to top to bottom without skipping a track. He goes hard reppin the south.

Aesop Rock - seriously ridiculous lyricism

K'naan - Great lyricism and social/concious topics

Flobots - Again very good lyricism and social topics

Honorable mentions include NAS, Tupac, Eminem, Saul Williams, and obviously we gotta have soulja boy

theres no way az is the best rapper even though he is sick he is not even close to being the best
biggie smalls obviously on top nobody can touchtupacjay-z

tupac grew up in sausalito dumbass thats 45 min from my house which is the bay not the gay you rusty cuntbucket
