totally understandable...extreme skiing, or freestyle, or whatever you want to call it, doesnt have that many people if you really think about it...its getting bigger though...

no joke but trail running in alaska is sick, people get paralyzed when they fall sometimes and have to get stitches and crap, we're on like 40 degree slopes SPRINTING downhill over rocks and boulders and tree roots, it IS fucking extreme and way fun

as for skiing not being on the list, i'm glad, i dont want mainstream participation, mainstream viewing is cool though, i like how there aren't many at what we do and peoples mind get blown when they see it for the first time, its like the guys from the nike commercials jumping off buildings onto pavement, it makes peoples jaws drop, its sick and its almost mysterious to people who dont know about it, i want it to stay that way, but dman i love the new exterra commercials!

now in a sense of extreme, big mountain/extreme skiing is more extreme than all of those on the list except for maybe rock/mountain climbing. just not as many people doing it

how did roller hockey and trail running get on that list? trail running may be popular but most people dont do it in an 'extreme' way, and what the fuck, roller hockey isnt extreme, unless you want to call ice hockey or tackle football extreme too.

first off, where is skydiving? not that ive ever done it, but thats some pretty extreme shit!

also, it would be tough to put new school skiing on the list b/c it would be too hard to figure out how many people do it. is it anyone who has ever gone off a jump? is it anyone who has twinnies? is it anyone who can jib a rail? they cant accurratley calculate the number of participants in new school skiing.

I rollerblade, and I paintball. To me, both can be considered extreme because adrenaline is pumpin when i do it. I also wakeboard and bmx, but people dont disagree with those bein extreme. Blading can get a little old after awhile, but on tv and shit its INSANE! The first double flatspin on the pipe at the gravity games last sunday, and the attempted triple flip, thats extreme. Trail running sounds like insane shit cause once you start running downhill really fast, it gets fucking hard to stop. Those are all pretty extreme things, so im not gonna dispute any of them. Baseball isnt extreme, so i would be pissed if that showed up, otherwise, i agree

the way I see it is: they classify an extreme sport as one that is not a traditional sport. ie. no soccer, football, ice hockey. they are just going by how many people compete in these sports. they did not include every 'extreme' sport out there, because there are more than 12 extreme sports. base jumping also wasn't included, because not many people participate in this sport. and yes trail running is extreme. picture your fav black, or double black diamond run in the summer and try running down it.

i've never even really heard of that kind of trail running. if somebody would say to me 'would you like to go trail running with me?' i would imagine jogging down a little bike trail type thing in the woods. so probably moer than half of the people that were included in the survey, or however they did that shit, thought of it the same way.

as for paintball; it's extreme, but not nearly as extreme as all the other extreme sports. so i don't think it should have been included

i dont get why mt. biking is higher than bmx. all the little punk assed kid with wal mart bmx bikes call themselves bmxers. mt. bikes are much more expensive and around where i live theres about a 1:125 ratio of mt bikers to bmxers

 
I wish skiing was mainstream so everytime someone says skiiers can't grind rails or go in the halfpipe I wouldnt have to pull out an issue of freeze.

There is nothing motherly about mother nature. Except for her big mountainous breasts.

1. DH mountain biking

2. Skiing/Snowboarding

3. Surfing

4. W/W Kayaking

5. Rock Climbing

6. Skateboarding

The next 6 are a toss up and in my mind dont matter.

Also if your refering to GT as the bike company they were bought from Pacific a Wal-Mart bike comp. but something tells me you didnt mean that in the 1st place.

1. Someone died from paintball a year ago at my field. They were playing Speedball and he took off his mask and was hit with a Bushmaster and lost his eye, and got hit in the temple, he died in the hospital because of brain injuries (mostly swelling).

2. How is Rollerblading #1, I used to rollerblade and its alright, but skiing, DH mtn biking, and most of the others on that list,(besides trail running) are much more xtreme!

 
what about the skeleton thing? you know where you go down an ice chute on your stomach and shit and go like 80 mph? what about that? and cliff diving?

lets keep our sport away from the public eye. Seems to me we are doing just fine without them. if our sport does make it onto that list all it will mean is that there are posers that think they are skiers. who care if skiing is on that list. either way it doesnt change how 'extreme' our sport is.

i've seen trail running on tv and i guess it could be considered extreme cuz if the trip they have no way of stopping themselves tumbling 200 feet down a REAL steep slope with cliffs and boulders every where. but roller hockey? what the fuck is extreme about shooting a puck at a net with rollerblades????
