I won't even attempt making a list. What about classical, jazz and every other genre for that matter? There are so many great songs and so many different styles. I suggest you make this thread top ten favorite songs.

that's what my list was, then I realized that I can't even decide my own favorites cause I love like all classical music. Especially 'merceau de concert' by saint-saens.

the thing is tho, i really like what a wonderful world by louis armstrong, but you cant really compare them to things like metallica, or led zep.

no order

Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run (rock and roll perfection)

The Beach Boys - God Only Knows (best of a great album)

Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone (better versions by hendrix and stones)

Rolling Stones - Satisfaction (most famous guitar riff ever)

Eric Clapton - Layla (2nd most famous riff)

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven (epic slowly builds up over 7 minutes)

Bruce Springsteen - Jungleland (9 minute rock and roll epic; amazing imagery; best sax solo ever)

The Beatles - Hey Jude

The Beatles - Revolution (the beatles need 2 songs; so hard to choose which 2)

The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again (rocking song)

nothing from the past 25 years. has music sucked or am I weird?

no dude, the music doesn't suck, you just gotta dig deep and find the good stuff...other than that yeah it does suck

proud owner of 'team ramrod', the best NS hockey pool team ever.

oh yeah, as for my list, its a mix of the good old stuff with newer music you probably havent heard of, but its amazing to me. so in no particular order...

new years day - u2

where the streets have no name - u2

she sells sanctuary - the cult

the end of an era - hopesfall

for now - stretch arm strong

wont get fooled again - the who

layla - eric clapton

on legendary - further seems forever

the broken heart of a traitor - hopesfall

gloria - u2

yeah my taste in music is pretty different i guess

proud owner of 'team ramrod', the best NS hockey pool team ever.

This is a list that is going to change on me but I'm gonna start w/ the following:

SVhucker, ace call on Beach Boys-

1.) God Only Knows-Beach Boys (Pet Sounds, definetly one of the most amazing albums ever composed)

2.) Eureka-Jim O'Rourke (My favorite musician, he has had his hand in some amazing projects, but this song makes me want to cry...)

3.) Moonlight in Vermont- Prefer the Frank Sinatra version, however, I've been listening to the Stan Getz version too and it is amazing. (reminds me of winter walks)

4.) Take Me Away-Hayden (Prettiest piano song, by a local artist. It snaps my heart into shards of glass)

5.) Salisbury Hill-Peter Gabriel (this song has epic note transfers at the end of the verses, they get me every time. I don't know whether to run through the wall or hide under my desk and cry.)

And I'll leave it at that for now.... more to follow....

Commander of the Silent Army

Viva La Resistance!

No, boners are nasty...especially if ur freak dancing with a guy that u dont know and you feel their boner...yuck

-Sara

Okay, ready?

6.) Campaigner-Neil Young (classic acoustic song, great melody, great artist)

7.) Hello Hawk-Superchunk (my first favorite Superchunk track, that started off my somewhat indie music listening career, also introduced me to Jim O'Rourke (producer), and a thousand other bands. Grew up and threw up to the Chunk! Love them)

8.) Mary Jo-Belle & Sebastien (never heard such a depressing song that made me want to dance. These guys are so much fun in a rainy way. Great tune)

9.) Going for Gold-Bright Eyes (one of the first Bright Eyes songs I ever heard, still my favorite. Acoustic-depressio beauty, and at the end, when he talks about the girl practicing violin and it 'cutting into her', you can hear emotion about to burst, and it kills me...)

10.) Another Day-Archer Prewitt (this is such a pretty song, with a great buildup of smooth tones that is so damn fun to sing along to while driving. I love Archer Prewitt, his newest album is rad, and I got to see him live w/ the Sea and Cake a month back and he kills the guitar.)

I hope you guys check some of this stuff out, if you don't already know it. These are songs that have changed my life.... Even your parents would probably like them....

Enjoi...

Capernicus was right when he said that no such list can be made... there are too many close calls... and rating a song better than another is hard...

I think just a list of 30 or so really good songs would be best... but i am lazy so... i won't make a list.
