Tooth guards

why would you wear a mouthguard skiing if your face just gets destroyed before your teeth

don't get one with a rope attached to it but def get a simple one at sports authority or wherever, they're like 2 bucks. i've got one that i leave in my jacket all the time and i just pop it in for a run when i'm trying some new jumps or bigger rails, no biggie, it's one less thing to worry about then

I'm getting one cus I fucked up my teeth last weekend skiing, and just had them fixed. Don't want that to happen again.

And I thought the rope thing would be sweet, not having to put in it my pockets when I'm on the lifts n stuff.

Also I checked the local stores, they haven't got them. Has anyone got a link to a store?

^^ very legit site..

i just went to my dentist and got a beefed up version of a clear retainer (more plastic)...not as protective as a mouth guard but prevents tooth breakage but not concussions suposedely

mouthguard dont do much to protect your teeth, mostly to prevent concussion if you are wearing a mouthguard laping the park you are a pretty big pussy, im not saying i dont throw one in when i want to try something new...but for everyday use and rails you gotta be kidding me

^ dumbass

i lost 4 teeth cracked 1 in half and killed 2 hitting my knee landing off a kicker.

2 root canals and like 3 surgeries so far......mouth guards help a ton i just got elbowed in the mouth/jaw and it helped a ton i just bled a bit but other then that it wasnt bad. then i was playing soccer and i got booted in the lower teeth and they were literally flat on my tongue. another tooth lost in that 1 lmfao....but overall im just saying that mouth guards help a ton and i have a chin guard now just for more protection.

But then how would biting down hard give you a concussion? It that was true wouldnt I be getting a ton of concussions from like just eating some tough beef jerky?

^it's not biting down, but having your jaw smashed into your head that causes the concussion. Something the mouth guard prevents by absorbing the shock.

that wouldn't be ignorance, you using the word ignorance to say he doesn't know about mouth guards when he clearly does....... that's ignornace. Ignorance is not used to describe someone's follies.

Mouth guards do several things......... yes they help in a small instance of a concussion by preventing "chatter slam" which is an impact of the lower jaw into the upper jaw, usually happens if you get knocked out cuz you lose control of the muscle (rarely happens, unless you are unconscious). They also help with impact, again, to a certain degree. It will distribute the impact (spread) when it occurs. Overall a good idea, do you look like a puss, probably, but teeth are the thing that freak me out the most when i'm thinking of a new trick on a rail. Bugs me the fuck out.

ignorance means that you are uninformed or uneducated, in this case, he was flaunting his ignorance in saying that his mouthguard was the reason his teeth didnt fall out, a mouthguards main purpose lessen your chance of a concussion from the smashing together of your teeth, it will also help with the chipping of your teeth from chattering and slaming into eachother, but that is a downward force, if you get a metal rail coming straight at your face, your teeth are going to chip, mouthguard or not.
