hey im doing a season in whistler and im looking for a pow specific ski, i dont care about groomer performance. ive searchbar'd for the past like week and ive got mixed answers. Im leaning towards the line ep pro, im 5'11 - 6 ' and weigh about 196 pounds and i have anthems, the way i ski pow is just not full charging just nice floaty turns and just general messing around through trees and i will be wanting to up my jib game aswell, wat i would like to know is are these skis perfect for whistler pow and if these skis will get owned by my burly weight or will surf fine. any help would be great, cheers.

Personally, I would pick a stiffer ski. Some will say EPs will be great, I on the other hand think you would be much better off with a Surface One Life, New Life, ON3P anything, Rossi S7, Armada ARG or JJ, even Hellbents would be a little stiffer. Again, just my opinion, based on your weight.

Have a buddy 'bout your size would go over the handlebars even on the smallest of drops in deep pow.Btw they even soften up a bit as with any rockered ski. Ep's are way to soft go stiffer for sure.

rastaspect

hey cheers mate in whistler ive found in-stock the Ep's, s7's, arg's, 169 hellbents and jj's but the jj's are not pow specific enough i dont think, which of those would you reccomend?

Don't go with 169 bents. They will will be way too short.

I've heard the arg's are absolutely the best ski for powder but are only good in powder. If you want versatility don't go with the arg. If I'm wrong about this someone who has these skis correct me

Also from what I've heard, the JJ rips anywhere as a powder/all around ski. I've heard nothing but good things

Sorry I can't help you from my personal experience. I've just stated what I have heard with no personal experience and if I'm wrong, call me out on it

Im going to say 179 hellbents.

I have 189 bents and my bro has ep's and my hellbents are a considerable amount stiffer than the ep's, im a big guy and i have yet to ski them but im thinking the will be on the softer side but not to soft.

Or the caylor would be a good choise if you are afraid of it your ski being to soft, the caylor is like a stiffer hellbent.

the hellbents are all sold out in whistler and i would go on3p but it just seems too much effort to order seeing i havent soughted permanent accomodation yet, as i said its between the s7's, args or the ep pro, if anyone has any good experiance with the rossi s7's 09 model it would be good to hear about their performance, also wat i want is litterally a pow only ski my anthems will do the rest of the mountain so jj's and that make a 2 ski quiver merge and a waste of money. still pretty stuck on the choice so any more help / info would be great . cheers

Out of those listed, if you are limiting yourself to those options, I would heavily recommend the ARG for a powder specific ski, and the JJ if you wanted a little more versatility out of the powder or on softer days.

You could try and order apair of hellbents from someone or a store.

OUt f the skis you said, i havnt had any experience with. If you said you wanted a more foaty surfy feel then i dont think you will want the s7's, they are more of a charging ski(correct me if im wrong). The arg would probably do you well if you want apow specific ski that is surfy.

you might wanna check out the 4frnt EHP. they sound good for your riding style. super surfy, moderate flex, and a really nice camber

dont get put back on the jj in pow. if u noticed in edias thall used the jjs in all the pow scenes. it has rocker and just a little sidcut underfoot to help u on groomers to get back to the lift. the jj is just as wide as a ski as the arg but the difference is in shape.

hopes this helps.

ive narrowed it down to the 185 jj and the arg, ill be skiing whistler and i already have a pair of anthems wat do you guys think? cheers

JJ.

ARG's are super pow specific. They have 1mm of sidecut. Probably one of the least versatile skis around. JJ will still rip in pow, but it's going to be a ton more versatile so you can still ride them when there's not a lot of pow since they have proper sidecut and camber underfoot. ARG's will pretty much suck unless theres a lot of soft snow. If you had 2 pairs of skis already including an everyday type ski (such as Seths) and wanted something purely for waist deep days then yeah sure i'd recommend you get the ARGs.. For a two ski quiver the JJ are a far better choice. In my mind, JJ's are a resort/sidecountry powder ski, ARGs are a BC, bottomless pow, and AK type ski.

maybe look into the 4frnt CRJ and Atomic Bentchetler as well, as its been said look at all the pow skis and slowly whittle your way down to the ski which meets your height/weight and riding style perfectly, especially if you can't test them before hand.

the EPs will be the easiest thing to step up your jib game.

Don't. get. the. S7's.

they're ok in pow, but a bit too stiff and just don't have the magic that the EPs do
