That's not true. One of the coordinators of the event disclosed that "they actually had to talk to one of the judges because he was marking people down for skiing without poles"
 
How could you not know what to think? one person has poles in their hand, another doesn't. Just because you are dim enough to be confused by that doesn't mean that HIRED JUDGES should be able to pull that bullshit.

This is not just about no poles. I think that one of these kids won with no poles, BUT he had tight pants like all of the other kids. Most of the people who threw down good runs had poles. The judges were just retarded snowboarders who didn't know anything about skiing.

but i think that the people who judged the comp are fags cuz basically they hooked up their friends. one of the kids that won the Open was a gay as kid who sucked ass way bad. hes got the hook ups. an other kid beat me (i dont know how cuz we did the same run almost) but i was the first one to throw down an inverted trick. the last trick of my run i threw a back flip and everyone went crazy. then the kid that beat me did a front flip right after me. even though it says inverted tricks are prohibited you will get a dq.

i did a back flip got a dq and the kid did a front flip and won. WTF?

anyways if you want to win i think you got to know the right people. thats how it is every where school, sports, etc.
 
Most times judges don't know what the fuck is up, if you can't watch people ski, with or without poles and judge who did better, you shouldn't be judging at all. And judging based on clothing is ridiculous.
 
If you're talking about Brighton yesterday, Brody Levin won the men's open and his clothes were probably just as baggy as yours.  The point of comps like that is to have fun, if you're going to get all emo if you don't win, stay home.  
 
damn.. not to pull the age card but im almost 24 and i remember when people started to go away from tighter fate/sms/bfa clothing and started doing something new which was wearing baggier stuff and soo many people had a problem with it, but slowly people started to embrace it until it became the norm.. seems like the whole 'tight holden pant' argument is just the baggy argument from about 8-10 years ago with a new face... i wonder if in another few seasons tight pants on skis wont even be an issue anymore cause it will be so common..
 
People say that judges should judge more on style, well most of these judges havent seen the no pole style before. Style is a personal thing, and it will take a while for others to accept a new style. A lot of people dont like the no poles style.

ive never skied no poles, but i think it is just as cool as with poles. judges shouldnt take off points for not using poles, especially a has been like nick mercon.

about what the thread is actually about- that sucks dude, the judges shouldnt judge people based on what they wear.

1. you are too closed minded to accept that there are different styles and that people should be judged because they don't conform to your idea of it

aren't judges supposed to score on what their personal opinion is? this isn't areals where everything can be scored through a rule book. the judges probably didn't like his style and no poles could have been a reason.

Flailing all over the place and not grabbing could be called a style, and that would be something that would be understandably judged lower.

Not having poles in your hands is NOT something that they shoud down-score for. It was NOT because he looked bad without poles, if he had poles, he would look exactly the same.

Everyone here is talking about two different contests - the one where you got robbed at Brighton for not having tight pants and ins with the judges and the Aspen Open where multiple people got robbed for not skiing with poles. 

Hayden Price did not get 3rd at the Aspen Open, because he wasn;t there. PK Hunder got third at the Open.
 
word, misunderstanding trevor....brody won the brighton comp in the mens open division...and hayden got 3rd in the mens open division....simply stating that hayden got 3rd in open...as in open division...not aspen open. so everyone can be happy now the end

hahaha, the new debate, tight pants vs baggy; poles vs no poles. Its skiing, you have two planks on your feet that are fairly long. you go down a hill. Comps get judged poorly, some has to lose, some win. Go ski and have fun
