this is concerning the possibility of a skiing game:

think back to a pre tony hawk proskater era. if you saw someone 180 a 7 set on a skateboard, you would have though, wow, that kid is good. fast forward to the present, if someone were to 180 that same 7 set, it would not seem impressive, cuz all the kids who don't skate, but play tony hawk, have done mistys over stairs. i know it would be great to have a skiing game, but it would alleviate all respect we have from people who dont do what we do. they will be playing jon olsson's freeskier or whatever, and do a switch 1800 with a clean critical, and then go skiing, and see the kids in the park doing nice cork 7's and think, wow, they suck.

one beef i have with tony hawk is that shit is unrealistic to a point of stupidity. its fun for a while but now all i do is build realistic rails in the park editor and do realistic tricks, it might jut be me but hey.

I do agree with you, but if you watch a skate video today, you don't see anyone misty'ing a 7 stair. So hopefully the same kids who don't skate and and play TH, and watch an occasional skate video or two, can differentiate between real, good skating, and the video game world of Tony Hawk.

The same thing goes for a skiing game. And mabey in 2015 when a freeski game actually is released, they can make a more realistic engine, that doesnt really allow for perfect switch 10's off a 30 footer.

As well, in Amped2, it's still possible for the occasional 10 of something not 10 worthy. But you also see a style meter. So if you do throw that switch 1 off that 50 foot cliff with a real nice grab, you get rewarded.

Tmorry is rite, another thing is that skiiers go so huge anyways it would be kind of hard to eggsagerate, unless you can do crazy shit of the ground. moral of the story wach ski vids.

Another thing, If someone goes, oh I dont want to see people throwing switch 10's off Chads Gap in a freeski game. Thall and Jon were putting down switch 9's on that bad boy.

So I guess you could say it comes full circle. They need to be able to go big, but not to unnecessary extremes that make the game too arcade style. Which would take away the realism and simulation style most of us are looking for.

its only a game, and i never think bad of boarders when they do ollys, because i think its cool even if a 1080 alloop mctwist is 2 buttons on a video game controller, but i like any tricks people can do, especially ones i cant

I couldnt see the some of the jib skiiers making it gay. If you've ever skated you have respect for kids who do shit and break theyre ankles over it. I mean fuck tony hawk why should he have a game with street skating when he can barely land heel flips(check out tony hawk trick tips V1 he sucks cock). If they had a game like Park Skiing it be real sick. who cares what other gay kids in the park think about you. Its about how you like to ride and your having fun, don't worry about the faggots in the park asking how theyre steeze goes. Anyone understand?

i would have to agree with that, even tho people who dont freeski wouldnt be that likely to buy the game, since its not as mainstream as skateboarding

i think we shouldnt have a game..this way when skiers pull a smooth 360 down a 7 set, then people will be like "oh snap!" and that way people will be impressed more easily

tony hawks games sucked because they got loads of little kids into the sport just cus they wanted to be cool, then they would always get in your way and then after2 months they would stop and more little kids would come. imagine a skiing game all those little kids in the parks trying to be cool. but it would be cool to have a game.

 
ya a ski game with an engine like amped 2s would be amazing. One of the things that would be amazing is if the game compensated for ping off rails. In amped 2 if you boardslide the rail to 270 out it says rail to 360.. Also a good trick description similar to tony hawhks but built for skiing would be nice. Also in clude the fact that popping and ollieing are different on skis and that each has its own advandtages and disa vantges. Also realistc speed phtsics would be nice aswell. So if you fall you cant clear a thirty footer. Landing flat off a big drop would make you falll and snow contions change. Landing in powder would be eaier than hardpack. In the sun the snow will be slower than in the shade and you have a stamina meter similar to tony hawks special mete. If you fall it goes down stomp tricks it goes up. it goes to zero your runs over. It would also go down slowly over time . Skiing switch would be hader and forwards easier. You coud use different skis too. Fujative would go fast and easiy to control in the park and in the air, but super slow in powder. Prohets are amzing in powder handling becomes perfect. but on hardpack they fall apart. downloadible content for new skis and equipment and graphics. Almost everything thing else like amped 2 but your on skis. If todays consoles/ computers (use Xbox as n example not ps3 or xbox 2 or anthin else just xbox. if this isnt doable tell me, cuase im just throwin ideas in to the mix

i didn't really read what you wrote, but tony hawk is the shit. it's fun trying normal stuff and making it look steezy. sure... you could just bust a crazy trick combo and make it look unreal, but when i play that game, i look for realistic ledges and handrails, and i session them and throw down realistic stuff. it's so much more entertaining making stuff look good. not just running into a ledge at full speed hitting the grind button, and you land in it perfectly.

dude, ive played tony hawk tons, but i see a few clips of street skaters and i am still absolutely blown away. seriously it makes my jaw drop when i see some of that shit. they do like 360 lips onto noseslides on ledges and gap stairsets that would be considered nuts on skis. this is pretty unrelated to the thread but i just needed to share how ridiculous skaters are

I would also like to point out that it doesn't matter what people think when you are skateing. The kid who throws a 180 down the 7 set really shouldn't care about what 8 year old jimmy in the back seat of his mommy's van thinks. If he does he is skating for the wrong reasons.

noonesw really answered me, is this game that ive put on the table even possible because it would be sick if it ever came out. And scratch the stamina bar idea, sounds really gay when you think about cuase you play video games to try stuff without any cares. this takes all the fun out of it. (look at 1080 avalanche . 1080 would be way more fun if there wasnt a bar that made you quit if you fell too much)

i think it'd be cool to have kinda a build up, like you cant just ski out and throw down a switch cork ten true tail, ya know? like you gotta learn the basics and master like landing and stuff so then when you go out you'll be better and better, work on sponsorship deals, and eventually go pro, deffinately would be sweet... but i just realized after writing that that its just like THPS underground lol... so what would you guys think of something like that?

 
I dont give a shit what other people think about what I am doing in the park. It would be fucking sick to have a skiing game, end of story. Anyone that is in the park, or on a skateboard for that matter would only have to try to find out its really not that easy.

tony hawk skateboarding video games aren't all that unrealistic. just look at danny way. to see the full story, you have to see the dc deluxe extras.

i find 2 in thps that i try to set up terrain park style levels. i createde a bunch of neat tricks to (cork 3, cork5/7/9, misty's and rodeos)

compared to tony hawk amped 2 is extremly realistic. Besides landing flat and ginding chairlifts and oint 1080s on to raisl the jump physics are fairly rwalsistc, And it sells for shit. Read my ideas and youll agree that the game would be the shit (really really good)

But the fact tony hawk is so unrealistic is what makes it fun. Like the level where you can grind on the catwalk above a pit of molten iron 50 feet above the ground and shit. And how you can ride on grass and stairs and shit... it's cool and it's so fun. I don't care what you guys say tony hawk pro skater is a kickass super fun game. Being able to pull of unreal stuff is what makes it so fun.
