Tom wallisch vid

nobody cares if you are hyped or not because you're a little dbag. fuck off and delete this shit.

Whats the big problem with this kid reposting this? Its a year maybe even 2 year old video, he should probably give the filmer etc. credit, but is it really that big a deal?

hmmm... let's say you make a product. Two years later everyone can steal it/walk out of stores with it for free because it's two years older?

No. fuck that lol. Get some better logic, reposting videos under another's channel for personal gain without paying or any reason really is a big fuck you to the people who make the videos and can lead to some pretty gnarly copyright lawsuits.

Agreed.

Not cool op..not cool at all. Youre lame for doing that

So I can understand your point but I think your logic is somewhat flawed.

First of all I think your comparison of stealing/walking out of a store doesn't make sense. If this were a full movie (level 1, PBP) where a large share of profits were directly dependent on actual sales of a physical product or digital downloads then I would completely agree with you. Your comparing it to stealing a CD when you should be comparing it to stealing streaming views. Basically it'd be like Nas getting angry at someone for reposting Illmatic on their youtube channel.

I'll admit I don't know exactly how Eheath/NS is paid for these videos but I imagine maybe he gets a flat fee from Park City (maybe), then is paid based on views/clicks/newschoolers gets advertising money or something. So the argument becomes this kid who reposted this video is stealing views from Eheath/newschoolers.

Ok so thats a valid argument this kid is stealing views from Eheaths video. Those 600 views this kid has racked up on youtube should instead be on eheaths page or on newschoolers. Stats aren't available for NS but looking at Eheaths vimeo shows over the past 3 months the video hasn't been viewed more than 5 times in a single day. Last week it was viewed 13 times in total. Basically nobody is watching it, at least on vimeo.

So my argument, and why I think its significant that the video is 2 years old is that this video already peaked in terms of views and likely won't make much more if any money for Eheath or NS. Technically the kid shouldn't have reposted the video, but I highly doubt he did it for money and if 200 people who have never heard of Eheath or Tom Wallisch happen to view it because its now on Youtube then its probably doing more good then harm.

Tldr: The original videos probably not gonna make anymore money for eheath or NS, enjoy the free advertising on a more accessible platform from a stoked kid.

The point isn't money, its that this kid is trying to get traction on his youtube page with my videos, without my permission. He put me as credit but still, its lame as fuck when you put time into shooting and editing and people post it on their youtube page. Its just common sense, don't post someone else's videos.

granted, the dude is probably 15 years old, I don't care that much, but I do want him to take it down.

I agree though I think reposting edits isn't as big a deal as NS makes it out to be, especially if the videos are old. The lamest part of this whole thing is the kid tried to pass it off as an "unseen" edit.

it's a huge deal. Someone takes something you worked hard on and tries to monetize in some way (gain viewership, make money, etc.) and doesn't ask you for permission or anything. There's a reason why patents and copyrights were created and a video is a product (intellectual property even) just like anything else out there. It's like that bullshit going on with ridersapp and stuff on instagram. if anything, your logic is severly flawed in that you don't think a video is worth anything past a WHOLE year, wow such a long time.

First of all dude its a WHOLE 2 years old haha and if you read through my above post you'll see my point is that that video very likely won't make much more money in the future for Eheath etc. and that its likely more beneficial for the video to be spread for the sake of exposure/free advertising. Someone correct me if I'm wrong and tell me that that video stands to make Eheath/NS a lot of money and I'll shut up, but I highly doubt it. If this kid had reposted the video a day after Eheath had released this edit then I'd completely agree with you but its a old video that wasn't getting very many views.

Secondly, the whole permission thing I think is bullshit. So many edits on NS use music without artists permission and nobody bats an eye. I'm curious if Eheath reached out to Cormega and checked if it was alright to use his song for this edit or to Nas for his Karl edit. Anytime a filmer or skier uses a song in an edit, without permission they are "monetizing in some way" as you put it.

I get what you're saying but I think you're just being naive and not looking at this rationally. Intellectual property has been being violated on youtube for years now to the point that theres not much people can do about it.

fair point on the music, but this kid has contributed NOTHING to the edit, not the video nor the music. so what's he doing? just ripping off everyone

I completely agree and think its especially fucking weak he tried to pass it off as "unseen" footage. Undoubtedly the right thing to do was to just link it to the original source on NS or Eheaths vimeo, but since its a somewhat old video I just don't think he's probably ripping anyone off that much. I'm also curious why Eheath/NS don't have much of a presence on youtube.

eheath and ns probably dont have a youtube presence because who the hell uses youtube? very few people here go there to watch videos, and few people post them there. instead, most ski videos go to vimeo

also it shouldnt matter that its two years old, already seen, WHATEVER. the creator of the content, who owns the video (even if it is just intellectual property), asked the kid to remove it. the kid is benefiting from something he didnt do, and if eheath wants it down, the kid should pull it from his page. if he doesnt, all evan has to do is report it for copyright infringement on the video page, and youtube will pull it from the page

Have you used youtube recently dude, there is a fuck ton of ski content on there a lot of which have considerably more views then they do on NS or vimeo. I'd also argue there are more ski videos on youtube then vimeo.

And my point in bringing up the two years was solely to point out the fact that the video likely isn't making money anymore. I completely agree that the kid should take it down since Eheath wants it taken down, I'm just surprised he cares/everyone is up in arms about it.

You don't get it dude.

This has NOTHING to do with money, NOTHING to do with NS. Its the principle of the situation, kid shouldn't be posting other peoples videos (theyre on the internet already) especially without permission.

This is not the same as music, at all. This video wasn't made for money, it was made for the art form, creating a video, sharing that video. This cunt doesn't get to share my hard work on his youtube channel he hasn't earned that right. If he would've asked me, I'd say no.

The point is that he shouldn't post other peoples videos to gain traction on youtube, that is all he's doing. He's a lazy fuck that doesn't want to create his own content. This is the problem, not money, not NS.
