Tom Wallisch Sellout

some people are pissed because they won't be getting their orders until the restock, which who knows when that will happen.

haha, in teh best ways possible. came from an extraordinary east coast ski spot (Pennsylvania!?) blew everyones minds with his skiing during Superunknown era and now cashes checks to ski with some of the best style in the game. Fuckin American dream. You actin' like you would do something different if you were him!?

I guess what I'm saying is we only see him in comps and north face commercials. Hopefully he can get that superunknown swagger back with his new urban thing he's doing

Well, he gets more money from North Face and Scott than he did from Amplid and Sweet. Of course it sucks and I like Amplid and Sweet more, but he didn't "sellout". I doubt you would stay with smaller companies instead of the big companies that make such as good products as the smaller ones

He's being smart as fuck by leveraging his talent in to a viable, and sustainable career.

this thread sucks.

he wants to make a living skiing, earn his own money and not eat ramen and live in his parents basement posting dumb threads on NS like you. what is wrong with that?

I'm not saying he is a sellout for making money and getting big sponsors. I feel like he has been absent within "the community" where as someone like henrik and phil are the heart and soul. He puts out sick edits w/ 4bi9 ccasionally but they are scarce. And wallisch wenddays are on point with bobby's life at this point(shits gay)

I like tom as much as the next skier no homo but doesnt anyone agree?

I don't think I'm hating, I just think I'm pointing something obvious out as someone who grew up watching tom and idolizes him like the rest of you twats

yeah, kinda like Candide. That dude is never putting out edits. Focusing his stupid time on "big" projects. And Seth Morrison! And Travis Heed! Makes me sick.

sellout is usually carries a negative connotation.

In my opinion no he didn't sell out. Sure he is sponcered by larger companies, but he still sticks to his roots well.

I agree henrik and phil portray the sort of "soul" of skiing more in their edits. Wallisch loves skiing just as much as they do but he's just in a position to get more sponsors and make more money out of the deal. who wouldn't want to be in his position? Don't attempt to judge the character or attitude of someone you have never met from the impression you get of them online.

He has fore sure lost his online presence. I've seen him at pc and he never falls so he can probably make a sick edit in an hour or some shit. It would be sweet to see some silly edits on a more consistent basis. The shit that made us all fall in love with him in the first place.

This all being said he is doing that urban project which will probs redeem him, but in the meantime get eheath's ass to troll you around pc all day

He isn't a sellout, he just got alot of sponsors and gets paid to ski all the time. OP you are just mad jealous that u ain't tom wallisch and making bank

i heard he was starting a cat dealership and he sells all types of cats, orange cats, grey cats, spotted cats you name it he has it.

Why can't it be? Especially if you can parlay it in to something else meaningful within the industry once you are done competing and filming. Look at guys like Mike Douglas, and Seth Morrison.

sellout? yeah definitely, but it doesn't take away from the fact that he is arguably the best skier right now

Don't forget the 'blew up on Newschoolers' part of that whole thing. That kid was famous on here before anything else.

Eh he gets paid a shitload but he's not like princess Shaun white who gets paid a shit load to only show up to a handful of comps a year whereas toms in game 24/7.

you can't really sell out in freeskiing because once you stop producing edits or winning comps, you kinda just fade away into history.

Lord Finesse had some interesting words to say when he was accused of selling out. Being underground doesn't pay the bills, so in order to further your own craft you have to sell out to a certain extent. In using corporate money wisely, one can push the development of the underground.

Tom wouldn't have been able to do a fraction of what he's done for the sport without the money brought by corporate sponsorships. Anyone who has met Tom before will tell you that the sponsorship money isn't the reason he's skiing.

For those who don't know- Lord Finesse is a producer and Emcee from New York who formed the DIggin in the Crates Crew (Big L. Fat Joe, etc). He's been on a global stage in Hip Hop since the late 80s and hasn't slowed down at all.

Ask yourself this- A young freeskier picks up a copy of 4bi9's Keep Looking because it has a Tom Wallisch segment in it. While watching it, he sees Brady's segment and realizes that futurespins aren't everything.
