just wondering if tom doesent compete because i dident see any results from him in the us open. or is he just injured

He fell in semis due to lack of speed on the second jump. He had back to back 10s(opposite) in the making too, he would have slaughtered finals.

yeah, he just had bad luck like so many others at the uso. he also hotfliped the kicker for a rail, it was rad.

true... but that wont change man, skiing is going in a way many of us wouldnt want ... whatever, we cant do anything about it but we will still continue to ski and have fun for sure.

without comps skiing wouldnt be at the level it is today, so saying comps are dumb is completely ignorant. fools

comps push people to progress. my hill has little comps on fridays nights just for fun. i learn something new everytime, its great. vids are way funner to watch thoguh

uh... comps are a huge fun social event, where everyone gets together, hangs out, shoots the shit, meets new people, catches up on new news and reminices about old time and ...... everyone skis together doing laps, sessioning, chasing girls, talking about tricks and............. for few minutes they throw down some runs to get judged on.

Everyone who is into skiing slope, 1/2 pipe or whatever should come out for these. This is not USSA racing.

Tom did those back to back switch 10's today. It was well.

And Competitions are so fun. Like Papasteeze said you meet a ton of people, and it's just generally a fun time.

saying that comps is what fuels progression is pretty ignorant too. realtime, enjoy and idea are what fuel progression, not the switch 10 fest of the overhyped, overadvertised x games. comps are lame because freeskiing has no winner, thats why its more fun than playing baseball. i cant even do a 7, but im the winner every time i go out there because its fun...and so are you unless you are paying too much attention to how many spins you can do. then your just a wannabe pro with an old pair of twins. that outlook is ignorant

Talking about Tom Wallisch and progression in the same sentence is pretty redundant. I mean sure the kid has a shitload of talent, but in terms of 'progressing' the sport, hes not really doing anything. Im not saying he should be doing something, merely pointing out that everyone on this site is all about 'progressing' the sport but seems to still love Tom Wallish even though all i see of him is spinning one way and then the other on rails and doing slightly different grabs than anyone else.

Not exactly groundbreaking stuff.

he has both switch 10s on lockdown so it is safe to say that he can spin both ways.

but that is not the point, tom learns new tricks daily. those that have watched him ski in person recently, know what i am talking about. apparently, his urban stuff in level 1's new film will not be bested.

he didnt do real well at the USO, but nobody did really cause the snow was so shitty. He still threw down some nice runs though, kept it real steezy as always

hes doing the most technical tricks both on jumps and rails. the difference is. hes doing them with 10* more style. thats groundbreaking if you ask me.

comps are fun, and its good to see what everyone's up to. wallisch is just too hardcore for that....jkjk...but seriously he's a hardass

if there was no competition side to skiing i would see it as non legitimate.....the phrase "recreational" would come to mind....organized competitions fuel this sport just as much as this video stuff you're talking about
