sorry bout another post on Lord of The Rings, but i jsut had to say taht this guy was a genius. he had probably one of the greatest imaginations ever, and was an amazing linguist. he actually created some new languages, complete languages. and now his books have been created into, at least in my opinion, some of the greatest movies of all time.

I'm reading them on a yearly basis now and yes tolkien is the man. he has an amazing way of telling the stry that gives it the feeling of an epic tale, not just the scale of stuff but the language he uses. Not many authors can get me hooked in but tolkien can like no other

krongos since you seem to know alot about the series do you have an answer to this question. Is there any truth that when tolkien was writing the series it was losly based on the nazi's trying to take over the world or soemthing like that?

he didnt really invent a language, its based on scandanavian. Actually, it would be a really cool thing to look at norse mythology and the lord of the rings side by side, to see similarities.

He was a professor of old english. My mom became a linguist because of him. But she sucks. I love that man though. He was a genius.

a lot of people did think that, and you could corallate a lot of world war II to the books, but actually, its just a cooincidence, in the introduction of the book, he explains how he hate allegory and he hates it when people view his work as such.

yeh his work is awsome....I love the movies, possibly the best trilogy of all time
