alright, i don't build ski boots or anything, but freakin i'm just skiing like i do normally today and then at lunch i go down to mcdonalds and take off my boots and my fucking big toe's nail is black... and hurts like hell, needless to say i ski on it the rest of the day... anyway, i dono how the hell it happened, anyone got ideas?

it might have been by shoving the nail into the toe or something. I also got big air today off a jump, but i didn't notice it till we went to eat

Did i write that?

mine are like that too..trim them extra short and it wont happen..make sure that if you hit it agains the wall, the toenail doesnt hit..make it THAT short

or just tighten your boots enough to where your foot cant slide forward.

this has happened to me a couple times, its not fun. the last time was really bad, nail fell off, then the new one grew back all fucked and I had a ingrown toenail for a while. it was balls.

anyway, go to a clinic and get a little drill. drill a small hole in the top of your nail, maybe 1/3 back of the tip, and push on your nail. blood and puss will come out, and thats a good thing.

the hole will reseal (with blood/puss, not new nail), so you have to redrill a couple times a day. after a couple days (depending how bad it is) the blood/puss won't form, and in a couple weeks as the nail grows, the hole you have drilled will grow out.

I feel bad for people who don't drink, cause when they wake up in the morning, thats the best the're going to feel all day

oh yeah, and if you are sliding around in your boots, either buckle them down, get new liners, or buy new boots, cause thats how it happens. depending on how bad you slide around.

But it works. Cutting your toenails super short seems to have helped me in the past. Boots that fit are the most important.

its not always the nail though. if you bang your toe hard enough it will bleed beneath the nail and your faced with the same problem.

make sure your boots have a good fit, that definetely is the most important.

wait wait. So like 3 weeks ago my friend slammed my thumb in my car door at the bottom of the mountain. Under my nail i can see where all the blood is building up and its not going away. And it sux, cause its not the most appealing thing in the word. So your telling me that I should go to the doc, and they will drill through my nail, and it will go away???

you can also heat up a needle and stick it in your toe. it will releive the pressure and the blood will shoot to the ceiling, it's tight

yes, that will fix it.

the needle thing is the same idea. but the drill thing they have is easier to use. and they give it to you afterwards, because the blood will continue to build up for a little while until it clotts.

my experience;

a) will be a long time till it no longer hurts

b) you should be back on the hill, although with pain, in a couple days. I dont think i hit a jump for about a week or so. i found the tighter the boot on the bottom buckles the less it hurt.

c) Dont worry about the uglyness, it is going to fall off in 3-4 weeks

lesson learned... cut my toe nails during ski season

Guys check out Atomic's Tweak and Supercross boots. They're built a 15% more voluminous toe box so your fore foot has enough room to expand when you land yet the boot still holds our calf in there properly.

They also have built in traction plates, suspesion in the cuff and showck absorbers under the heel.

This is for real.

This used to heppen to me every season. I always used the needle method and then it eventually fell off. I've found now though that if you do trim you nails really short it stops it from happening.

Once you bleed it with the needle / drill it will feel WAY better...and if you think it look ugly now.....wait till the nail falls off.....yuck city.

yeah..my boots fit fine..its just that if i land really, really far backseat and my toenails are too long..then it happens..not anymore though

this happened to my finger nail and i poked a hole in it and all the ooze shit came out. and then i clipped the nail all the way down to where it was off the skin. it didnt hurt but skiing with it will proball make it worse. i;d just go anyways and wouldnt worry about it

SOmething similar happened to me. Currently my toe is bright green (oxydized blood) and is barely hanging on, next time i ski it will fall off for sure. Your best bet is to wrap it up real tight with some gauze and tape it up. You should be good to go. Hope that helps

i skied on it today, with a lil tylenol... it was all good, lol people were askin me why i was skiing while i had a limp... but once i was on skis it was fine

just go to the doctor, I had to go a few weeks ago and its all better now, he will numb it up and you won't feel a thing! Then just keep them trimmed! Try silk sock liners too, those helped me!

Yea they are really common. I get them all the time during cross-country season. If your toenail gets constant pressure that will happen, it doesnt need to necessarily be one big smack. It doesn't hurt for too long, but its big and ugly. It passes in 3-4 weeks, you should be ok though. Ride On man.

This happened to me last season and I was limping around. I heard about the hot needle, but couldn't bring myself to do it, so I went to the doctor. He pulled out a small drill type thing and drilled through them in just a few seconds and the pain was gone once all of the shit came out. The only problem was I waited to long so eventually both of the nails fell off. Just drill them or poke them and the pain wil be gone.

haha..stinky said he whole toe was going to fall off..i hope he meant toenail

gotta cut em short but then also you gotta cut some skin off in the corners of the nail so they dont get ingrown
