i seem to always get this problem when i land off jumps or anything in the air. my boots are a little small, but i dont think that is the problem. any suggestions because i think my toenail is going to come off soon

ask your shop i think that they can but something in the toe box to make it tight so that won't happen i've never heard of that though

'kevin whyed nils pull you out?' 'Cuz i was touchin bitches.' 'No seriously why did he put scott in for you.' 'Scott doesn't touch bitches.'

well usually it has something to do with size of your boot..maybe u have fat feet..and its skinny boots or somethin

buy dr scholls ''gellin'' insoles. cut material out of the heels (it's thickest there) in the shape of the toe part of your shell, then wedge it in there and put your boot liner back in. if there's not enough space, try the same thing with the thinner gel material in the forefoot of those insoles. i've been having the same problem with my new boots, and i tried the thicker stuff and it was just a little crammed in there. the thinner stuff fits a lot better but doesn't take all of the pain away.

maybe two layers of the thinner stuff would be prime, i think i'll try that right now

cut your toe nails back as far as possible, wear the thinest socks possible, and stop landing back seat.

oh yeah, and get a 'trim to fit green superfeet' $30 bucks, or go the whole way and get a 'custom cork superfeet', $150 bucks and it will last upwards of 5 years. If you are still growing, and or poor get the trim to fit green. These are foot bed orthotics designed especialy for skiing. They will work to contain your foot in the back of the boot.

adding anything infront of your toes is going to make the problem worse.

Well that was happening with my friend's boots, so he just brought them back to the shop, and they replaced his liner.

i have the same problem and the best way to fix it is to not land backseat

actually the problem totally went away when i stuffed shit in my toes, but the custom insoles are probably a better idea if you have the $$'s

^well the custom insoles aren't that much, i mean at my shop they start at $30 cdn. and range up to $110.

but they feel so nice.

If you were stuffing things in the toe of your boot, they were to big for you.

Have you ever shell checked your boot for size? if you take the liner out, stick your foot in the shell and slide your toes up to the very front of the boot so they are just touching the end, you should only have about a fingers width, or a finger and a halfs width of space from your heel to the back of the shell. Two fingers width is pushing it on the large size if you are an agressive skier. Any more and you are in the wrong size boot.

^No finger shell check if you're a man though. Otherwise your heel will lift past 60mph. Start 2 sizes small and grind I always say.

yeah i went off one kicker in my new boots(didn't even land backseat) and i got a super black toenail, and my boots definitely aren't too big, i had like nine different bootfitters tell me they were the right size, and they all quoted what jibtech said word for word (even though i swore they were too small). i do have bad hammertoes though, and that might have something to do with my problem, my toes naturally curl up, but when i land hard they flatten out and slam against the front of my shell. as soon as i get some dollars though i'm gonna spring for some custom soles and see if that fixes it without putting shit in the toes

yea my big toe is half black now from skiing. make sure to clip them down pretty good, the reason mine is black was because, even they they were not really long, they still stuck out a bit so when id land sumthing, my foot would slide forward into the front of the boot and it would bend the toenail. i can see a bend mark halfway down my nail where it bent. the blackness went from there up.

it happens to me too but only when i land reely far back seat and more off cliffs than jumps for some reason

My big toe nails fell off.

One a few weeks ago, the other later this week is coming off.

It's because the liner is all packed out from my boots being old.

I cut off the back of my socks, behind where the middle of my sole is, and just wear the toes under my other socks.

Seems to work well so far.
