i have been getting toe bang a lot lately and i was wondering if anybody knows a trick or two to fix it. Thanks.

well i just bought some new full tilt konflicts but im still getting it i dropped a cliff at the bird yesterday and i killed my toes

You sure you are skiing in the right size of boot, could be cause from you slipping forward in your boots and slammin your toes as a result.

I have Nordica Dead Money's and they have like a pad in the toes to prevent toe bang. Its pretty nice

I get toe bang every season. This year I got it from my running shoes before the ski season even started. One of my toenails is black, which is a normal occurrence at the end of the season but not at the start. I'm a little concerned my toe might fall off. Plus k for anyone who's figured out how to heal black toe syndrome quicker.

it's black from blood buildup behind the nail, you can poke a hole in your toenail with a nail or pin to drain that

Tighten up your boots so you're foot does not move within them. If you can't do that, your boots are too big and you can't really do anything about it.

1.get full tilts or SPK boots

2. cut your toe nails!

3. learn to ride...never go backseat on skis

4. tighten your boots

thats it

Hahahaha! Great suggestion. Thanks. I owe you:

get new liners or new boots your boots probally packed out. You could also get inserts that take up space in your boot or a foot bed might possible work

two years ago I landed backseat, double ejected, and hurt my toes. A week later my big toenail fell off. It sucked. Just don't land backseat and tighten your boots.

thats not toe bang. black nails are a common problem for people doing high mileage, but the cause is completely different from toe bang from ski boots. not a whole lot i can say on how to heal it quicker tho. just time

This is n00b and gaper to ask here, but if you've never felt toebang or shinbang before, what do they feel like, besides "You'll know when you have it"

The most important part of solving toe bang is 2 fold: having the correct size/boot fit AND having good footbeds.

Footbeds are crucial because your foot is one shape when it is unweighted but it changes shape when you weight it. When you weight an unsupported foot, it flexes and splays inside a ski boot- it slides forward and you jam your toes.

If you want to solve toe bang, you have to treat the source of the problem which is preventing your foot from collapsing and splaying inside your boot. Footbeds will lock your foot in the rear of the boot not allowing it slide forward.

Like smashing your fingernail with a hammer, but because it is on your foot, it doesn't heal quickly. Every time you land hard, your toe smacks into the front of boot again so it pretty much hurts the whole time you're skiing. Then your toe nail turns black and eventually falls off.

From my experiences:1. Cut your toenails as short as possible. Long toenails make for less room in your boot so your foot has less room to slide before slamming into the end of your boot and so that if your toe is forced up, the toenail won't be forced down at the end causing toe bang.

2. Make sure your boots fit - too big and your foot will slide forward causing toe bang. Too small and your toes will be too cramped causing toe bang.

3. Don't land back seat - this will cause your foot to be pushed forward upon impact with the ground. Try to land as if you weren't wearing skis and you just jumped with shoes on.

this. and be sure to get proper footbeds. my spk pro's are dominating with my new footbeds. hell i could have probably gotten away with the soles in the boots but holy shit having the right boot/footbed is the fucking ultimate tits

There shouldn't be a time in your whole ski day where your boot-tongues aren't wrapped tightly around your shins. keep those boots tight and bend your knees

What are you using for footbeds? I have a pair of SPK's and I'm thinking about buying some footbeds as well.

I have the exact same problem, I have this years FT Booters, and I think it's because they are a little big, so I also have terrible shin bang right now, it got so bad to the point where my shins were just numb and I couldn't really feel anything and they hurt when I walk.

My shins are too skinny for pretty much any boot, and yet my feet is a 28, so its just impossible to get the boot tight enough without it breaking. No major toebang or shin bang tough.. just saying

the two things that i would do is either get spks they have the black toe fixer, or the second thing i would do, is put ur tampon in the front of ur boot

"Fulltilts are the best" is such a failed answer.

It all depends on your feet, For instance, i went with SPK's over fulltilts because they fit me better.

Go with what fits you, and if toebang is your problem i believe Salomon, Fulltilt and Dalbello (probably more) make those boots.

i was gonna make this thread a few weeks ago.. anybody else got bruised toenails already?? ideas..? i wear two pairs of socks an everything, just somethin ive put up with in the past, kinda ratty tho..

Rubber toes don't solve the actual problem of your foot sliding forward in the boot.

Footbeds solve the problem at it's source, rather than band-aid it. Having a proper size boot and a footbed is the solution. If you buy an SPK for the rubber toe but it is too wide for you and you don't have proper arch support, you can still get toe bang.

toe bang is like. picture your wearing a shoe, and you boot a brick wall as hard as you can. now picture that everytime you case/
