Moore cheap shot Naslund a month a go and has been cowering like a total pussy since. Todd and other players tried to settle this and Moore balled up like a turtle avioding the fights, he knew it was comming, he just didn't want to get his and he eventually did. I think this whole incodent was Moores fault for hitting Naslund and then avoiding a fight in the games with the canuks between the two incodents...fuck the gay aves!

A 13 game suspension and the rest of the playoffs is a bit steep. However, given the circumstances, as much as I hate to say it, its probably warrented.

However, having to meet with bettman before training camp to determine his eligibilty to still play hockey is absolutely ridiculous. You don't think giving up a shot at the stanley cup and forfiting half a million dollars is enough?

the hit wasn't even that bad! his neck didn't break until either bertuzzi fell on him or the avalanche player did. if moore hadn't gone down it would have been a 5min misconduct penalty!!

it was a pretty cheap shot, but Moore knew bertuzzi wanted a conflict all game and just ignored any attempts that bertuzzi made to fight him.

Bertuzzi was pissed because moore had taken out one of his best friend several weeks before without ANY penalty at all.

Moore knew he had it coming to him, especially since the avs were leading by like 7 goals.

Vancouver just had some hard feelings and unfortunatly moore got the worst of it.

Maybe other players will think twice before doing something as stupid as Bertuzzi did now. Which is the point of the harsh suspension. It's about time the NHL deal start dealing with incidents like this in a more proper fashion, with long suspensions, $750 000 in fines($500 000 to players emergency assistance fund, $250 000 to NHL charity fund), and the chance that this suspension could be extended. No other professional sport has been more lax on violence, and it might finally be changing.

Did anyone even see the hit that Moore put on Naslund? Moore didnt even do anything illegal, they just ran into eachother, and I'm sure Moore didnt even think that he would take Naslund out. Now if Moore would have took out Naslund in a fight, or a cheap shot then I might say that I could justify Bertuzzi's actions. But what Bertuzzi did was fucking low. You dont just jump someone, and then slam their face into the ground because he accidentaly took out one of your players. That was total bull shit, and I'm glad that Bertuzzi was suspended for at least the rest of the season.

I have a theory that all retards have one long tendon that goes from wrist to wrist, so therefore that is why they always are screwin around with one wrist up, and the other one down.

 
Sure it was a cheap shot but that happens pretty regularly. Bertuzzi just got unlucky coz the guy hurt himself (probably when all the Av players jumped on him). If Moore hadn't hurt his neck there is no way he would have got such a lenghty suspension.

that was an awesome link. as a former player and pretty big fan, i would have to say that while it was a cheap shot, BERT's original clutch and punch wasnt quite all that it has been cracked up to be. As said above, the real damage came when an AV's teammate crashed into BERT and then the two fell on top of the seemingly unconcious Moore. If you look at simply BERT's part in the act, it was a cheap shot that could have possibly knocked the recipient unconcious and probally caused a concussion. if those were the only injuries sustained, no one would be talking about criminal repercussions. the fact that due to an unfortunate incident after the punch Moore's neck was broken seems to have weighed a bit more heavy on the minds of those calling for jail time. I think that what happens on the rink should stay in the power of the NHL. One assumes a risk when stepping on the ice, and one assumes an even greater risk when they engage in a puglistic rivalry with a bonifide tough guy. While my sympathies go out to Moore, his family, and his career, i do believe that BERT has been overly villified for his part in the unfortunate incident. i think that the punishment both appeased those calling for the jugular and gave bertuzzi a chance to restore his image next season.

Listen, I don't follow hockey as much as I used to, but I do know that what Burtuzzi did was unnacceptable. You can talk all you want about Moore knowing it was coming and whatever but the bottom line is that Burtuzzi sucker-punched him and threatened to end his career. I don't care how important he is to the canucks, anyone that can have a lapse in judgement that severe deserves any punishment he gets. In my opinion there is no place for that kind of stupidity, utter disregard for others safety, and lack of respect that that hit signified. Maybe others dont get punished that severly, but they should. Burtuzzi shouldnt have to be made and example of, that kind of behaviour should always warrant extreme consequences.

What Todd did was over the line. The Neck was broken when his hit was driven into the ice. Had an Avalanche player not jumped on top of Todd, Todd was going to punch him again. Those next punches couldve killed the boy. Anyone saying that the neck was broken when the Avalanche player jumped onto top is thinking with there ass. Todd drove that head from 5 feet hi into the ic with his full body wieght on top of it and your looking at 2gs of pressure or about 500 pounds put on his neck.
