Today was my last day of the season and I'm kinda sad.

Went on a tour on a mountain surrounded by the ocean today. It's my last day of the season to ski as I'm moving to Tokyo in 2 days and I have to pack and travel and get set for work.

It's been awesome. I'm super sad to see it ending.

How's everyone else's season been? Who's still going for it?

I still have a few weeks of snow if I'm lucky, all the local resorts close this weekend but that just means it's time to set a PVC in the ground and hike until there's no snow in sight.

Fucked my knee up 2 months ago so my season has been over a long time ago. Always sad to see the good season go but there will always be another one! 2-skip til next season

I had my last day friday :( barring an impromptu Abay trip in may or june.

was definitely bittersweet but i couldn’t have asked for a better 60 degree slushfest. ended it up hitting my first unnat 3 ( really easy if you have nat 3s locked) and trying to get switch 3 which i didn’t quite get but had a bunch of fun trying in the slush.

I've never made it to japan. Big ragretski was not quiting my job when i found 400 dolar round trip flights to japan in the spring 6 years ago.

Mtn was fucking me over but i was trying to build a cool park for the childrens and couldn't bail. Friggin japan got 4 feet of snow the weekn id have been there.

Also season is going well buikt some fun shit, were going through memorial weekend.

Still have a little more than a month to ski here in Finland, after that the real tryhards and enthusiasts probably have like 2 or 3 weeks of snow for hiking up the hill and skiing some pvc. One season there was snow at the resort till the end of june

nah your ski season isn't over dude unless you want it to be. looks like tenjin is still open, 2 1/2 hours from tokyo.

Yea the end of the season is always so sad.

But everything that begin is bound to end.

here in Italy we could have like the best season in years or even ever (a lots of pow since november, in my home resort there is still plenty of snow with temperatures waay below zero and thursday should snow like 10cm). Our fucked politicians closed the resorts 10 HOURS before the opening (which had been postponed to 15 february) with all the sold skipass and everything.

Wanna just kill myself

Got 4-5 days left and if I get back to the rig on the last day uninjured, I'll be extremely stoked for the off-season

Hopefull till the end of may at Snowbird. Especially the snake runs, we have like 2 solid ones already shaped and another one that is taking some shape. We should just put snake runs all over the place.

I just called it a season. Hopefully I’ll try to squeeze in one last day at Killington before the snowpack on superstar becomes patchy.

Nah I'm packing it up. Leaving my gear in storage here in Niseko and focusing on getting things going with work.

Besides, it's been WAY too warm... the snow is sticky as can be and covered in sand. even here in hokkaido it's slow.

OP your life looks extremely fun. Where in Japan are you?

I've been in hokkaido for 2 years now. Mostly backcountry skiing and grilling up bbq while drinking a lot of Sapporo Classic.

Life has definitely been lots of fun. 11/10 would recommend Japan during a global pandemic.

yeah seems like that's the problem with spring skiing in japan, just too hot and humid and not steep enough. Bummer cause the snowpack looks nuts

I spent a season in Hokkaido, it gets hot af quickly. Rusutsu went from waist deep dry powder to manky spring corn in like a week in March. Spent the rest of the spring and summer dying in 30 degree plus weather in my dorm with no AC.

Nah Kurodake is where I'd be right now...

If you're not into park, understandably. But as far as spring parks go Nakayamatouge is one of my favorite ever.

Touring wise I'm lucky that there's lots of spring touring out east between Shari and the Shiretoko peaks.

I feel the vibes op.

I'm still after it, it showed on Tuesday, was great at brighton, like a foot and still light and fluffy.

Will be major spring skiing last weekend at pc this week, hoping to send some shit I've been scared of this season.

Have another weekend at solitude and then snowbird until they close in mid may.

Might even head over to breck since I hear they are supposed to be open till memorial day, although their base depth doesn't really suggest that.

yup, im pretty done with park honestly. too many injuries and its something ive done. I want to explore bigger stuff more.

Went up Shakotan-Dake as my last ski of the season. Highly rate it for spring especially if you can make a big day out of it and bag Yobetsu as well. Theres so much Snowpack left in places right now despite the last month of warm temps and rain. Its outrageous.

good to know, I always hear so many people complain about how flat it is

Completely depends where they are skiing. Also, if the expectation is to ski steep lines on hairy terrain, then that's entirely missing the point of skiing in Japan. If you're looking to wet yourself, go to Europe or the Sierras or Alaska or something.

Besides, most of the big steep shit in the country is extremely avalanche prone, if not glide-crack prone, so it's not always well lift-accessed.

I feel you dawg. I honestly felt like quitting park this season but then spring rolls around, I learn a few new tricks and Im back on the hype train.

I do enjoy backcountry, but nothing matches the hype of a booyah session.

Yeah I just dont get the same thrill from it that I used to. Now I just want to explore stuff and ski seldomly if ever skied areas.
