To who owns Subaru WRX

Mine shreds almost anything. does great in snow. I have only had problems once, and I was being stupid and spinning circles and wound up in deep snow, but it was a simple fix cause its so light. Other than that, I have driven through the gnarliest of weather and been alright.

as for the wagon, I have the sedan, and I think a wagon would be sick to have. You could put more gear in it, and have more space, but ive never cared that much and prefere the look of mine.

yea subarus are sick in the snow, but u should have some snow tires or at least all weather tires or some shit, studded would be the most baller but depends where u live haha.

Yeah, I have ATs, I sacrifice a little in the speed/handling department for roads, but they shred the snow. I drive a lot of highway miles on it too.

yeee i have a wagon.

a wagon is so much more spacious, and stealth, but if you get a sedan with a ski rack then you'll still have enough room.

and awd is amazing. they're great in the snow. the wrx drives just as well in snow as my suburban with 4wd.

the only thing is they take 92 octane.

My old 1993 legacy slayed so hard this winter. Now my Forrester with studded tires is so baller in the snow.

shit still better it takes 150bucks to fill my tank and it gets about 16mpg...has ne one every had any serious problems with these wrx's?

a friend of mine has a wrx. they are pretty cool, especially the wagons, but for the money id reccomend an audi. like an a4 or a6. the problem with wrx's is that they are slowwww at lower rpm's when the turbo hasnt kicked in. my friend always complains about his because going up mountain roads you have to be at like a minimum of 5000rpms for it to be reasonably fast, otherwise its pretty damn slow. now when your above like 5000 rpm's yeah it is pretty fast, but its just annoying and then there goes your gas mileage.
even the 1.8t a4's are better, ive driven one and you can be just cruising around at like 3000 rpm and always have reasonable power. get an a6 with the 2.7 twin turbo or an s4 and you always have power all the time. and you get the same performance in snow.

haha neither is a rally car, they are sporty passenger cars with awd, the sti's and evo's you see rallying are 200,000 dollar tanks, and thats 200,000 dollars all into making it perform in a specific area, a 30,000 dollar sti has 30,000 dollars into interior, comfort, safety, and all around performance. the only similarity between them is the way the body looks.
sure an audi, evo or subaru will do amazing in snow and dirt for a road car, but its not a rally car.

what? both an a6 and a4 are in a similar price range (used) with similar if not better performance, and nicer interior.

uch better for putting bags in the back, but the tailgate hits skis on the roof rack. the automatic sucks going up hills, get a manuel

the wagon is much better for putting bags in the back, but the tailgate hits skis on the roof rack. the automatic sucks going up hills, get a manual. sry, my computer is gay and doesnt like to put everything i type onto the screen

Any 4 cylinder turbo car is gonna be slower until the turbo spools. And the 5000 rpm think is kinda an exxageration because the turbo on mine spools up at about 3200 rpm. And of course a 2.7 liter twin turbo V6 is gonna have more power than a Single turbo 2.0...

1) You'll never have a problem getting up the hill.

2) Get a wagon, more space and they handle better too

I have a wrx sedan, and it's awesome in the snow. A wagon will attract a lot less cop attention. If I'm floorin' it around town I get about 17-18 mpg, it gets into the 20's crusing on the highway. I know a few peopl with a4's and they're not that great, lots of problems and they're more expensive to fix. wrx's are meant to be cheap awd turboed cars. If you're into moding your car there's a huge aftermarket parts selection for them. I think they're the best cars for the money. One thing to note is that AWD is not the same as 4wd. If you're stuck and one front wheel and one back wheel can spin freely, you're not going anywhere.

First of all, love my WRX. To whoever said they aren't rally cars, you are partially right. They are built on a rally awd chassis with a pretty competitive drivetrain. They may not handle exactly like a rally car, but if you put on new sway bars (which is really cheap, like $300) and throw in a few odds and ends like new brakes and steel braided lines...you would be amazed how they handle.

They are incredibly durable, and the awd system is amazing, the best on the market. If you get snow tires for the winter it will handle as good as any car on the road. I've seen trucks in the ditch where I've gone right by no problems. They are japanese made and are very reliable. Parts aren't that expensive because they use a common boxer engine. I would definitely take a WRX over an audi any day. Audi's are more for luxury than anything, and their turbo system isn't that great. The A4 hits 60 in like 8.1 seconds or something, whereas you can push a stock wrx to mid 5 seconds. They are fucking fast. Come stock at 227 whp. Turbo spool up can be a slight issue, but not that bad, mine kicks in at like 3300 rpm's and then I'm gone.

If you want a car you can tune, definitely a good car. Parts are cheap, and it's not all that costly to get a stage 2.5 car pushing 280+ whp.

I'm somewhat of an enthusiast haha even though I haven't owned mine for all that long. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

buy an audi or an wrx, they ar cool cars and all but audi just makes a sturdier better performing car

my 2003 a6 has a 3.0 with no turbo and it still rips and tis a god in the snow

and they are leather interior so it wont wreak as much after ur burn an l in it, unlike the wrx which is cloth

Personally id take a b6 a4 over an wrx any day. The wrx are known to blow head gaskets, while the audis will need a timing belt eventually. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. I love the interior and exterior of an a4 over a wrx any day.

Me and Evan have the same car!!?!?!

OMG GUYZ!

But really, the wagon part is amazing for gear and AWD FTW!

I have a few friends with A4s who have had to do some damn expensive work on them. Another friend and I both own WRX's and haven't had a thing go wrong. I'd trust Subaru over Audi in terms of reliability any day.

But yeah, the A4 interior looks nice and luxury.

Most of that is personal preference. Personally I love the racing buckets and the nice black/blue cloth interior of my WRX. But that's just preference. As for reliability, they are both very reliable. Audi's have had some turbo issues in the past, which is more expensive than a head gasket to fix, bunch of other stuff. Same can be said for Suby's, they have notoriously poor radiators, as well as other things. Expect a car to have problems no matter what, especially if you don't take care of it. As for the timing belt, almost all cars need a new timing belt around 100k miles.

It all depends on preference. Audi's are more luxurious, with some speed thrown in. WRX's are less luxurious, more street/rally but with a ton of speed. Just depends on what you want.

guys how bad is it having to pay for premium gas every time? or do they actually run ok on regular? or idk, just whats your take on that deal?

You need to run on 91+ octane if you want any form of performance out of the WRX. It needs the higher octane with the turbocharged boxer engine. If you are running less than premium, any decent acceleration will give you alot of engine knocking. It sucks a little bit paying for premium, I filled up at 3.76 the other day...you really need a good job to support a wrx. If you boost all over town you will drop to like 17 mpg. It's really not too bad though.

i was gonna say, are you talking about the regular version or the impreza cuz there is a bit of a difference. my best friend has one....always hear great things about it

so will running lower than 91 fuck your engine long-term? or is it such that it just runs less smooth only WHILE it has say 87 octane in it, but if you want to be quick you can fill up 91 again and be runnin excellent?

not really i have a variety of turbos you could choose from :) and if u are near me i could install it for you for a reasonable price!
