To late to Skate?

I'm 17 with absolutely no experience on a board, it it too late to start, i have a lot of friends who do it, but i hate posers, a lot so I've never done it cause i know The learning curve takes a while. Any Imput, Is it to late to start skateboarding?

its never to late to try something new and people are only posers if they think they are good just be comfortable with your skill level and it will be a lot more fun and a lot easier to progress just do it everyday and by the end of the summer you will probably be a pretty decent skater

i dont think so. if youre able to learn a couple of tricks itll be enough to have fun. and you wouldnt be a poser if you sucked a skating. youd be a poser if you dressed like a skater and didnt skate

My friends and I are all 17 and we just started and picked it up pretty quickly. just practice in your garage or driveway or something until you get relatively decent then go to the park so you don't get picked on and what not or just go for it. I don't know about were you live but the skaters in my town are the biggest piece of shit losers I have ever seen and they are all douche bags so i don't go to the park that much which kind of sucks. /cool story told by hansel.

Yeah. I tried to get into when I was in middle school and was immediately picked on for wearing skate shoes. The kids doing it thought they were the shit because they could kickflip and ollie, which is the level I was at when I gave up on it.

There are other factors in this decision to start or not;

1)I Have a history of concussions, and prefer many other things to skateboarding

2)I'm a starting Quarterback on my football team, don't want to risk injury, it's my final season.

3) I have arthritis in my left knee.

Change anything, or should I do like i usually do and worry about being fucked up once it's happened.

truth

take it easy OP, when first skating you'll go down in ways you never imagined. My guess is you'll fall hard on a wrist, or land with only your front foot on the board and pull your groin and jack your knee.
